Monkey Puzzle

It’s a little hard to review this place. The reason is because we had a really good time here but the food is not that great. The problem is that the food is a typical chain restaurant and so the food is bog standard. The place has a big garden, the staff are friendly and it is clean. There is a park in the garden so taking a 10 year old and two 7 year olds they had the time of there lives. I ordered a burger and chips and it was ok. Nothing special and filled me up. The kids had pizza and chips and it was not the standard of a pizzeria but they enjoyed it. My wife and eldest ordered the chicken Tikka and I guess it was out of a packet. I don’t understand the people who slate the food at places like this, you know that they don’t have Gordon Ramsey in the kitchen so what do they expect. If you want to grab something to eat and have young kids and fancy a pint I recommend it. If your with your girlfriend and want a quality meal don’t bother.

We visited this pub as it was next to the Premier Inn we were staying at we had the” eat as much as you like” breakfast and to be honest we couldn’t fault the service or food both were excellent. The food was hot, fresh and tasty. The waitress was helpful and happy even when it got very busy. The staff were constantly refilling the food etc. We will be returning for sure!

This pub is part of brewers fayre and they have a wide selection of food avaliable on the menu. The pub has a large dining area where you will get served by a member of staff or you can choose to sit in the bar area in which you will need to go and order your food yourself. They have very good offers in here on food and have eat all you can nights such as Chinese, Mexican, Chip Shop night and more. These are always really good value and they always have a wide selection of food to choose from. Their range of food on the menu varies and includes, steaks, salad, chicken, fish meals and more. The food is alway served quite quickly and always comes out well presented and warm. The staff in here are always so friendly and chatty and everytime I eat in here I always feel very welcome. The food in here is great quality and is reasonably priced, as well as the drinks. I regularly visit here with my boyfriend and we enjoy it everytime. The pub garden is lovely in the summer with a play area for children and they often have a bouncy castle here at the weekend.

It is good food. Farnborough lacks choices, this isnt a bad choice

This is an ok example of a chain pub, one of the best things about it for me is the location as it was a good meeting point for people that live in Farnborough, Aldershot and Fleet. i have only had a lunch in it but wouldn’t have thought it had much of evening atmosphere

Well, this week decided to try The Monkey Puzzle in Farnborough, to make a change from Aldershot where we live.
For a chain pub, this was what you’d expect, in fact, it was a little worse. I went there with my baby, my friend and her baby, and in the usual Brewers Fayre tradition, either had to sit in a family room or in the garden. The garden lwas arge, but overcrowded with tables, the grass totally littered with fag butts. The food, predictably bog standard, was less than average, chips over cooked, scampi over cooked, and my friend’s smothered chicken was not exactly smothered with the cheese! At the point of order I was asked if I wanted peas or mushy pease, I asked for mushy and also for a side order of mushrooms. When the meal arrived, I had no mushy peas and the musrooms numbered 4 in total! My friend and I always have a desert, (its a Friday lunchtime thing) but we were so disappointed with the main course, we decided to opt for a Magnum ice cream on the way home! My advice, unless you want a crap meal, over cooked, and one that takes for ever to arrive, avoid this place!
I only gave it 2 stars as the food was edible (just) and that the garden was nice, with a good childrens play area.
