We just had the nicest dinner at the Glass House. We enjoyed it 5 years ago, and in spite of the sign in front featuring take away pizza at a great price for college students, they do so much more and so well! The pizza was outstanding, but other entrees were delightful. Lasagne, beet salad with the creamiest goat cheese, mushroom risotto, smoked haddock risotto were our choices and we loved them all. A beautiful ancient building redone with lots of open space, glass, steel and a stunning view of the clock tower lit up at night. A casual atmosphere, modern and friendly. Service was great. Also pleased at how reasonable the bill. Go there. We hope to come back to enjoy it again.

The food here is great! They’ve got some really tasty pastas and pizzas. The atmosphere is very quaint and service is great. The sticky toffee pudding dessert was delicious. Price reflect the high quality of food and are totally worth it.

The Glass House was right near the university in St. Andrews, so it’s a little more youthful and trendy. It also gives you a beautiful view of St. Salvator’s Chapel across the street. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, even with the rather busy lunch service. I opted for their 2 course lunch menu specials, priced at £6.95. It was nice to do something a little cheaper since a lot of our UK vacation had been a tad pricey. They have the tables squished a little close together for my liking, since I don’t enjoy sitting on top of other people. At least there was free wifi. For my starter, I picked the Lemon and Thyme Chicken Liver Pâté, served with oatcakes and a caramelized onion chutney. It’s not often that I eat pâté, but it sounded really yummy for some reason. The pâté was creamy, rich, and decadent. The onion chutney gave it a pleasant sweetness. It was a nice way to start the meal. My main course selection was their Rabbit, Tomato, and Chili Ragu, which comes finished with a lime mascarpone. The lime gave this dish a nice zest of acidity. The rabbit was very tender, like stew meat. As tasty as it was, I did find a few small bones in the ragu. All in all, this was a great spot for lunch in St. Andrews.

Sightseeing in St. Andrews works up quite an appetite so we stopped in the Glass House for some lunch. Pulling open the door– we were warmly greeted by the hostess who asked if we wanted to sit downstairs or up. When I asked her what the difference was she said there was none so up we went. We were seated in a banquette along the wall. I love that they provide soft pillows to tuck behind your back in case the distance to the table was a bit far. We looked over the menu and we both ordered the soup of the day which was a rich, creamy mushroom soup with just the right touch of garlic. The soup came with such a large piece of focaacia bread that I probably didn’t need to order anything else but it was too late. My main course was the chacuterie plate– just the right amount of sliced meats, grilled vegetables and olives. While it came with a couple of breadsticks I would have liked a little more bread but then again– I had had the soup already which was quite filling. Service was spot on and I liked the eclectic layout of the interior– seats indoors, outdoors and with an open format that left it feeling spacious and bright. And the price was quite reasonable. Next time you are in St. Andrews– check out the Glass House. I’m sure they will have something to please any palate!

I popped in for lunch with a few people and we were served quickly even though it was very busy. The food was great and the service was great. Also, the prices are set at a very reasonable rate! All the staff are really nice and I will be going back!
