i think its a shame that asda got conned into moving into the shopping centre to start with the original plan was to have a walmart size store on the seafront development from what i heard, although having the seperate george store is good as it ment for the first time i could actually buy mens clothes in folkestone, something im guessing will dissappear if the clothes move upstairs as most supermarkets seem to forget men need clothes aswell when laying out their small clothing sections

Where to start? This has to be the worst laid out superstore I’ve ever been to! Considering the size of the store, when I finally located the sausage section last week, it was about 3 feet wide and only had Walls sausages in it! The whole store has a very cheap and almost warehouse feel about it! Due to the amount of food vastly outweighing the volume of customers, there is always plenty in the reduced section. Some of the best reductions are on the stuff from the deli and the counter with the indian food. Having the clothes downstairs just does not work. You have to pay separately and if you shop after 6pm, the George section downstairs is closed. Probably the best part of the store is the travelator! The car park is fairly reasonable and if you spend in store, you can get the first 2 hours parking cost refunded.

I would agree with Purplegirl. The concept of an ASDA was great until we saw the practicalities. It was supposed to be a 24 hour store, but they stopped being 24⁄7 a couple of months ago. The clothes shop being downstairs and closing at 6 is a nonsense(you also have to pay separately, which defeats the object — its handy to throw a tshirt or pair of shoes in with the weekly shop). The canteen is quite small, and the one time I used it there were long queues to get served.

When I found out Asda was opening in Folkestone I was very excited. Asda sells lots of well priced items as well as having a good clothing department. Sadly Adsa Folkestone has been a bit of a dissapointment really. The way the store has been designed is terrible. The clothing department is downstairs but it is seperate from the food area and closes at 6pm. It means you can’t pick up a few bits while shopping as its like a seperate shop. I also hate the fact that the food dept is upstairs. When George is open you can go in through the automatic doors and up in the lift but when George is closes you have to get through two heavy doors before you can get to the lift and this is very difficult with a pram and is almost impossible with shopping bags as well. The food store its self is very big and has lots of choice. Sadly I find that a lot of the items are out of date quite often as well as being incorrectly priced. They have a system where they will give you £2 on a gift card for every over charged item but the people at customer service desk are very cagey about this and often act as if they are paying the money from their own pockets. I have also found a few of their staff to be rather rude and unhelpful, acting as if the customers are somehow in the way. The toilets are a main concern for me. I am a mother with a baby in a pram. There is only one baby room to use and it is also the disabled toilet. This often means that there is more than one mother waiting to use the baby chaning facility and blocking the coridor with prams. I have eaten in the canteen a few times and have found the food horrible on all these occasions. It is always very old tasting as if it has been sat there all day and never more than luke warm. They do have plenty of high chairs and the table areas are usually clean. The drinks including hot drinks are self service which id difficult with children to look after.
