As mentioned by other the store is starting to look dated. A large percentage of the store is taken up by make up and perfumes departments and ladies fashions. Downstairs there is a good mans wear department but debenhams seem to only stock certain labels which cam mean some of the clothes are pricey. Blue cross days are worth looking out for as it means if you look carefully bargains can be had. I picked up a pair of nike trainers last year for £20 they usually retail at £39. The kitchen ware department is almost squeezed into the spare space they had in the shop at that time. The café is large but the food can be a bit on the high side

I do like Debenhams generally — especially on blue cross sale days! Bargains can be had, although due to the size of the store, some items have a limited size range. The concessions are useful as they do not appear anywhere else in town(its a bit of a one-stop-shop). The womens clothes make up most of the store, but it does have a good area for makeup and perfumes. Mens and childrens sections could do with being larger. The household section has a good range of products, but layout is a bit higgle-de-piggle-de. The café upstairs is great for taking a break and grabbing a coffee. Although a little on the expensive side, the food is good quality, even if the portions are a little on the smaller side.

I find this store to be quite out of date and a little difficult to shop in. As a previous review mentioned, it does need a refit. It looks rather old and shabby in places. The toilets are usually out of order due to children who stuff paper down them so there is often a long wait. There is a family bathroom so you can take small children in a seprate room and also a baby changing room, these are both very usefull. I find a lot of the older members of staff to be quite rude at times and to act as if you are personnally taking their money if you are buying a sale or reduced item. There is a feeling that the customers are in the way in certain departments. I have also found that certain concessions try not to follow the Debenhams guarantees by saying that their company is seperate when it comes to returning items. A quick call to a manager usually sorts this kind of problem out though. As the largest store in Folkestone I feel that they rely on customers having to shop here rather than choseing to. If there were more competition for them I feel they would make more effort to please the customers.

Its a shame that more money could not have been invested in this branch of department store, as it is looking a little tired and could do with a refit especially when you compare it to the Debenhams at Westwood cross. That said they have some great sales here, and I always wait for the Blue Cross day to go and stock up on suits for work. They often have suits which were £100+ on sale for £35. They are good for coats and evening dresses too. There is a Top Shop, Pineapple, Jane Norman and Principles concessions in there too. Not such a good range for men and children. Make up and perfume department is good choice and range. Café on the first floor is a little pricy, but always seems to do a roaring trade. The handbags and shoes part needs to have a larger space to try shoes on as I always seem to have to wait.
