Sorry Raj Rani but I have to dock 2 stars.
A recent visit to Raj Rani left both me and my husband quite disappointed as the food just isn’t as good as it used to be.
8 of us came by on a Friday night and were seated straight away. We ordered some Poppadoms and dips to start while we waited for our main meals which came fairly quickly. I had the Chicken Korma (
) and my husband had the Chicken Madras (
) with a request to make it extra spicy.
Where the curry is still ok the consistency is just not what it used to be. It used to be quite thick but each of the 8 Curry dishes on our table were all very runny, almost like gravy. My chicken Korma also lacking in the Coconut flavor it used to have and was a little too creamy for me, which you can see from the picture the swirl of extra cream was not needed.
Other dishes our table ordered were Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Madras, Chicken, Bhuna of which I didn’t sample as I had my own meal but they appeared to be enjoyed by Hubby’s friends.
The Naan bread (
) was absolutely delicious though and probably my favorite part of the meal. Warm, soft, thick and lightly brushed with butter, the perfect accompaniment to the meal.
Service was kind of spotty and maybe I have just been spoilt living in the US for the last 2 years but I had to ask 3 times for a glass of water then at the end of the meal the waiter pointed out that I didn’t even drink it all. Just because I didn’t finish it it didn’t mean I didn’t want it! Also when it came to paying the pill the waiter also stood by the table waiting while we sorted payment out which I found incredibly rude, it’s not like we were going to leave without paying.

Food Ok. Cheese Nan Excellent, But staff disapear too easily, and Ate in, rather than got a takeaway judging by other reviews, glad i did otherwise it might have been cold … Vindaloo was mild compared to others locally, but tasty, Just not a patch on the Tandoori Parlour, just up the road. Sorry !

normally very nice however ordered food recently and was terrible waited for ages then food turned up stone cold spent nearly 40 pound was so disappointed as ive recommended the restaurant to many of my friends but ive been well truly put off

The food here is very nice, however they do have a habit of forgetting things sometimes so check your bag to make sure everything is there.
I would also advise against going on special occasions such as mother day etc because they tend to get too many customers, struggle to cope with the demand and as a result ruin your food — one time everything ended up completely burnt and the flavour was awful.
Otherwise, any other time, the food is excellent and very tasty.
I would give more stars but those few times when they have forgotten items of food have let the place down.

Really nice food, only problem with this resturant is there is no free parking in the area, best place to park is just behind the Cricketers or rainham Shops car park.
