Judi and I stopped for lunch at this Inn having been advised by our Satnav. This is a traditional-style pub with a modern ‘gastro-pub’ makeover and, for once, the décor did not lie. A wonderful welcome from young man at the bar. Excellent menu and wine. As usual we couldn’t face a large meal at lunchtime but we were tempted by their homemade pork pies and thrice-cooked chips. WOW! a whole new take on pie and chips. We bought two pies to take home :-) A good stop(food and accommodation) for east-west travellers(A303 or A30) and I envy those who live near enough to have an evening meal there

A CAMRA award winning pub. Simple but excellent lunch dishes plus an amazing array of beers, and a good wine list. Pleasant interior and staff. Worth a detour if you are nearby.

This is a great place to hide out… Stuck in the middle of a small village. Recently renovated, it has a fresh modern feel about it whilst retaining its earthy muddy boot feeling. Fantastic fancy pub food at a very reasonable price. In the winter it has open fires and mould wine on the bar and in the summer, Pimms and pork pies… There is a separate more formal restaurant or if you prefer you can eat in the equally comfortable bar area. This place also has a handful of simply decorated guest room which have been kitted out to the highest standard. My partner and I live fairly locally but we stayed over for a birthday treat last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. Whether it’s a morning coffee and a paper for an excuse to get out the house or a slap up meal on a special occasion, this place can cater for all. It has a sister pub owned by the same family and renovated to the same standard in another village called Corton Denham which I would write exactly the same reveiw for… infact I have.
