Café Pearce is da biz. You can only take so much Greggs and Subway in Govan so Café Pearce is a wee breath of fresh air, well for Govan anyway. I’m in there most days usually and they do a fab lunch deal of homemade soup, sandwich and a drink for £3.50. Sometimes though I just pop in for a wee cheese piece to take away. Yum!

Popped in here for a coffee when in the area as i noticed the odd«café open» sign made up from printed A4 sheets in the window… these things always catch my eye, either they are genuine or a scam to get you in and steal your shoes… so, i still have my shoes, lets continue. Located within the Pearce Institute, a local community centre which has been serving the Govan locals for close to a century, this coffee/sandwich bar offers a decent range of hot drinks and snacks. Filled with locals from various groups, it wont take you long to find yourself in a conversation with someone(whether you want to or not!). Priced very reasonable, a coffee/tea and breakfast roll for £2.20 with the proceeds going to a local charity, it may just be worth a visit to have a nosey at the building itself. The PI(known locally as) is a wonderful old A listed building gifted to the locals by a shipbuilder named William Pearce. It has, over the years been used for a wide range of activities and in recent years has made a real impact within the local immigrant population with help classes such as language, reading and writing classes. Anyway, enough of the history lesson. If you find yourself in the area, why not pop in? It’s cheap and your money helps the local charities, who would have guessed a roll and sausage could be ethical?
