The pork and black pudding burger topped with a fried egg is out of this world. Brown sauce on the side adds a little bit of zing. Food was served really quickly and service was great.

Blink an ye’ll miss this place! Went beginning of May, found on for pre-theater. We actually used to live on St Andrews Sq and had been in for drinks years ago but never had grub… big mistake! Food is excellent and a nice place! I had a haggis burger with peppercorn sauce and couldn’t resist Orkney Fudge Cheesecake for desert NOMNOM!

Another Thursday night date night dinner but this time on a cold and dismal night we decided to try somewhere closer to my old stomping ground in the east end having already done Coias, Celinos and Dennistoun BBQ recently we opted for here! Firstly this place has hands down the best Cullen Skink soup I’ve ever had, it was so good I was actually considering swapping my dessert for another bowl if it — it was that good! My hubby had the smoked salmon brioche which he said was lovely and light! I had the daube of beef was lovely however I felt the beef was cooked just too long, it had lost a bit of its flavour and the texture was just a little too stringy. My hubby had the chicken and barley risotto, this was also lovely however he did comment that he found it getting a bit«perfumery» towards the end. Ut still enjoyed it! Now for the desserts — these pulled my review rating back up again! Sticky toffee pudding and ice cream and a Orkney fudge cheese cake! Both were delicious and the portions were big, so make sure you leave plenty of room! We booked this meal through 5pm and it was £16.95 for three courses plus a glass of wine. Thoroughly recommend it and will return again no question!

Cracking Scottish fayre served up within one of Glasgow’s most impressive buildings. The 5pm market menu is fantastic value. 3 courses each and a bottle of wine to share for £50. The service was great and the food tasted fantastic and was fantastically presented. One of my favourite restaurants in the city.

Had a lovely meal with friendly staff. Unusual location under the church yet apparently modern, warm and inviting with good atmosphere. Haggis Pakora for starters followed by chicken wrapped in bacon on Haggis mash with carrots, turnips and very crunchy broccoli. All were very nice and I’ll definitely try to plan another visit.

I think this may be in the hidden gem category, until word gets out. The food is superb and the prices are very affordable. We love it and visit whenever we are in Glasgow! Nice at Christmas too.

I don’t know if this place qualifies as a hidden gem or not — maybe it was just me that didn’t realise it was here. Either way, really liked the feel of the place and on a Friday night it wasn’t too busy. We didn’t eat as just wanted drinks before heading upstairs to the main building for a dinner/dance. Not too shabby at all.

Really surprised at how cosy this place is, I expected it to be a bit«warehouse» style but it is really lovely(when booking ask for a booth). The pre-theatre is really good value and the menu itself has something for everyone. Soups are a meal on their own, and would be a good bet if having lunch. There is lots of Scottish fare on offer but also a good range of sandwiches/burgers(there is a haggis burger which looked good). we booked via and got the pre-theatre, 2 course with glass of wine for £12.95 per person. They also run another deal Sun-Thur which is 3 courses with bottle of wine for £22.50 per person. Deffo worth a try!

Last Friday I convinced my co-workers to come here for some post«team building day» scran and drinks and I simply have to sing the praises of the Sticky Toffee Pudding(Yes it is in capitals. It was that good!). It made me feel amazing on so many levels I can’t really fully describe it. I am still at the gym every day trying to work it off, but still… totally worth it! PS. For our«team building» day we went on a James Bond themed scavenger hunt around Glasgow which was basically a pub crawl with a theme… I fecking LOVE my job!

With Jack Johnson purring from the stereo, moody lighting, cocktails and black and white films on TV, this bar should be pretty much everything I don’t look for in a watering hole. However, situated on the edge of the city’s east end, it’s hard not to be encapsualted by Café Source. Formed in the basement of the truly sumptuous St Andrews in the Square, the café/bar is tastefully decorated and is virtually a cocoon in one of the least appealling areas of the city. While football fans could be battering lumps out of each other little more than five minutes away, more sophisticated locals and those in the know are likely to be supping a mojito, enjoying authentic and delicious(although not cheap) Scottish grub and watching a Laurel and Hardy film in here. Were this pub situated in the West End it would probably be unbearable, but so inconspicuous is its location that it maintains an extremely laidback and friendly vibe. The staff, in particular, are excellent. Visitors would be well advised to order a taxi from here if they’re leaving late at night, but that shouldn’t put them off coming in the first place. This is a lovely venue with some of the best local food on the go. Oh, and if you combine it with a gig in the upstairs venue, you’re talking about one of the best word of mouth nights out in the city.

wow! can’t believe i’m the first to write a review on this place! probably coz it’s so freakin hard to find. but the chef here is superb. the rib eye steaks are fabulous, the lamb outstanding and the beef was melt in the mouth. the place is always quiet, again i think because its tucked away in a weird place but the service is lovely and the food well worth it. try any of the red meat on the menu and enjoy!
