What a difference from my experience in another Costa. Here they worked as a team & although there was a queue they had a wee laugh with me. I like that it’s inside Waterstones as it makes the experience slightly more chilled than if it had a shopfront. The hot choc & lemon cake were lovely and not too pricey.

This Costa Coffee can be found in the basement of the Waterstone’s store on Sauchiehall Street. Like all bookshop coffee houses, this Costa is a great place to while away an hour or so, especially if you’ve picked up a couple of books along the way to leaf through. In fact, I’ve noticed a couple of people here who seem to be reading whole books.(Great way to embrace literature if you’re too skint to buy books I suppose). There’s something about this particular Costa, though, that I don’t really like. The placement of it is perfect, and it SHOULD be a much nicer experience than it is. The only two reasons I can think of for this is the fact that the staff are a little too brisk to really be friendly, and the fact that they rarely bother to clean the tables. This means that if you want to have a nice sit down with a coffee and a book — you’ll have to clear yourself a table first.
