Yet another in a long line of cycle shop reviews, what makes this one different is the man who is in charge of the shop. As many of you know ive been ahving problems with the bike through punctures and such and took it into this man just after the latest one and he found the problem in my old tyres instantly with a very thorough check and didnt charge me a penny. All this after i offerend cash and about half an hour after his closing time. Now thats service. Onto the current thing which was checking about a service for the bike. Arranged the rough price but he said he would have to look at it before he could be certain, something i like as it shows he will actually look or it to be in tip top shape, so i brought it in after finishing late on the wednesday thinking he was open till 6:30pm i arrived at 6:15 just as he was exiting the shop with all the shutters on and the lights out. Yet again this wonderful gentleman took the bike back in, had a check over it, agreed the price with myself and told me exactly what needed to be done… all this when i was already 15 minutes after opening time. Arranged for a monday pick up which was a fair amount of time, suited him and me. Once again he exceeded my expectations by having it ready on the saturday at around 2 pm a full working day and a bit early. Got the bike, paying was a breeze and the bike looked immaculate and was well oiled and went like a dream. Im now ready for summer!!!

This business has been going for a long time. Before it was located here, it was based in Mount Florida, and my parents bought my very first bike from the proprietor. Needless to say, I’ve been a long-time(if very infrequent) customer. Harry and I bought a cheap second hand bike together so I could teach him how to ride one — alas, my own had been stolen many years before. Sadly, the inner tubing for the rear tyre was burst at the valve, and no matter how many times I tried to patch it, the tear was so awkward that the patches couldn’t form a seal. So, after many months of procrastination, off to Craig MacMartin I toddled. I was advised that the cost of replacing and fitting the new inner tubing would be £12, which was idea. I was to come back in an hour and collect, so as it was a nice day and the shop is across from the park, I went to have a wee picnic to myself to kill time. I also called Harry to come and meet me so we could get a head start on his lessons. Sadly, when I went back to get the bike, the repair had not been done. The reason being that the tyre itself was ragged, and would simply cause the next tube to tear also. This would need replacing, and all in would cost £35. It was now near closing time, I’d need to come back for it the next day if I was happy for them to go ahead with the repair. Came back for the bike the next day, all repairs had been done. In addition, the gent repairing the bike had done safety checks on everything else, and warned me to be wary of certain gears(he was not wrong), and that the rear break was becoming a bit spongy. He had also re-aligned the rear break pads free of charge, explaining that they’d damaged the previous tyre and he didn’t want an unhappy return customer. All in, a fine service by personable staff who have a genuine concern for the safety of their customers. My only quible is I wish they’d called me about the tyre problem when it arose, and I could have told them to go ahead and fix it, thus saving me an extra journey in the morning. Still, they will always be the first people I’d think of for a repair or service.

A nice wee cycle shop and cycle repair shop in the south-side, jam-packed to the rafters with cycles of different levels, for pro/amature and beginners. The guys that run this place are obviously keen cyclists themselves, its always got loads of bikes in for repair and maintenance and the guys are on hand with advice and tips so you can get the most out of your bike. Lots of accessories also, with all sorts of gadgets for your bike and you! Its been running for a good while, something like 25 years I think so deffo a good shout if you want to support your local bike shop, they will order in any bike you want and should be able to compete with the bigger bike shops on price, I would say the customer service you recieve here is better than a large chain(ha-ha, get it?) bike shop, more of a personal touch if you know what I mean! Go down and have a look, theres plenty to look at and you can ogle at the £2000+ bikes or pick up a sub-£300 one to get you started.
