Bear in mind I have only been in here once, and I was blown away by some of the stuff they had on offer, and made me definitely want to get involved in some heavy style crafting! But… The staff(one woman) that day just didn’t really seem overly keen on my custom! I was asking about upcoming classes, how they had made this and that, and I was aware that the extraction of blood from the stone was getting quite painful. I just would have liked someone that owned/worked in this shop to be a bit more passionate and willing to share their skills with a more-than-willing participant and their friends. She even sighed a few times when I was asking the easiest of questions(eh, ‘when is your next class?’) The fact I haven’t been back(since last year) and the place is on my doorstep is testament to the fact that I will go back if the service is good and the product so-so, but the other way around and sorry, but to repeat Duncan Bannatyne, ‘s’it’snotabizness and for that reason I’m out’. Maybe they had an off day, so I will return at some point, but I certainly won’t be in any hurry to.

I love Damselfly and the Queen Bee. I remember the first time I noticed it; they had a huge découpage elephant in the window covered in gorgeous peachy tissue paper. Glorious! As the guys and dolls have already stated, this is a shop specialising in dreamy arts and crafts but they do sell a generous supply of gifts, trinkets and cuddly cats. I ususally come in here for the latter and have been successful purchasing a few Christmas presents here, all of which were gleefully received. Aside from their country kitchen kitsch, they have an inspiring collection of crafty muses, all of an old fashioned, homely variety. They have possibly the biggest selection of tissue paper I’ve ever seen — it exceeds the Art Store’s supply in town. They also have books, scraps that your mum will love, and unblemished moulds and photo albums which you can then customize yourself. As Lisa said, this assortment has the potential when teamed with your imagination to produce some thoughtful presents for others. But in all honesty, I’d much rather make my own collage elephant. P.S — They have some stunning prints of lesser known Glaswegian artist Hannah Frank. They’re dreamy, flowing and utterly gorgeous. But I already regret telling you this in case you get in there and snap one up before I do!

I am a bit of a craft junkie and Damselfly & the Queen Bee is my local dealer! You will find all sorts in this great little store. There are craft projects and supplies for kids and adults alike and whether you are a craft novice or a fully blown addict like me, you can’t fail to find something to suit at Damselfly & the Queen Bee. My most recent purchase was for a friend who was feeling a little down that her daughter, who was a baby only yesterday, was soon to start primary school. The lovely ladies at Damselfly made me up one of their fantastic Children’s Keepsakes. I gave them a pair of my friends daughters tiny little baby outfits and they molded it and put it against a pretty background and framed it for me. My friend was delighted and teary when she received such a personal gift. However my usual purchase from Damselfly is buttons. I just love the old fashion, vintage looking buttons as I am a bit of a novice dressmaker and love finding unusual things to use. They also sell a fun and easy button bracelet making kit which is a great way to kill an hour on a rainy Scottish day and have something to show for it!

Despite being a novice– I get sudden urges to make gifts when I am running out of ideas for Christmas, and so have a cupboard full of unfinished projects. I borrowed a child, strolled in here, and let the youngster be amazed at the materials: it is the perfect place to inspire a young person to get creative. Clearly laid out and with staff who obviously care about craft– I fear I revealed my ignorance very quickly– this is a great place to browse and dream up projects for that special person’s Valentine’s gift, before I lose my nerve and think a handmade card might make me look like a stalker. But this is a comment on my own abilities: maybe if I could get them to make it for me…

The beautifully named Damselfly & The Queen Bee is a craft shop on Great Western Road in Glasgow. Filled with stationary, wrapping paper, art supplies, toiletries and trinkets — you can’t go wrong with this shop. Whether you are a serious artist looking for the tools of the trade, or just dabbling in arts and crafts — this shop is definitely worth a visit. Get your hands on stamps, inks, paints and canvases — or, if you don’t want to do it yourself, they do take on commissions. As well as offering birthday parties for children(imagine all the mess that the kids could make that you wouldn’t have to clean up!) they also run regular card making workshops on Monday and Friday mornings. They also offer customers the chance to book workshop space whenever they like. The owner is really helpful, and helped me look for the perfect purchase. I will definitely be heading back to Damselfly & the Queen Bee — and think you should head over there too!

It feels like stepping back in time when you go into this shop — I don’t know«when» but maybe it has something to do with the victorian style toys in the window(like the dolls pram!). They have everything you could possibly need for arts and crafts, not to mention gifts, toys, gift wrap and stationery. It’s a wonderful wee shop to nosey around in. It’s girly, it’s crafty, it’s artsy… and I love it!
