Food is EXCELLENT! Great yummy amazing food. My party ordered calamari and bruccetta to start and followed by salmon penne, spaghetti carbonara, a margharita pizza, and mushroom risotto. So good. Service is a bit slow but they are so warm and friendly and the quality of the food more than makes up for it

Great food! Lovely staff. The only thing was they don’t do cocktails but slightly made up for it with flavoured alcohol. Haha. All round great experience though.

Lovely restaurant! Came with friends with a Groupon and ordered two pizzas. One of them had Italian sausage, which was rich and delicious. It is has a calm and classy atmosphere with awesome décor. A bit pricey — without the Groupon — but you get what you pay for!

I’ve been here a couple of times before and have always been very pleased. The most recent time was no exception. There was 10 of us in the party and we had the 5pm set menu. There was a great selection for everyone in the group and the staff were very friendly. I would recommend trying here at least once, the only drawbacks were it took nearly 40 minutes for the starters and I had the mushroom risotto which was a bit over salted. Other than that, top class!

Over the moon. Booked a Christmas lunch here without knowing anything about it(that’s right, didn’t even check Unilocal!) and it was an absolute winner. Avoided the actual festive menu to try and sample as much as possible from the regular menu which had plenty of variety. We must have tried almost ten dishes between four. Great service and great food, where I was taken aback by the price, given the portion sizes. My chicken caesar salad was immense! As hassle-free and pleasant a lunch as I have ever had, and I will certainly be back.

Esca is my idea of what an Italian restaurant should be. The food is delicious and they manage to put a modern twist on traditional Italian dishes without being sacrilegious! I could eat the pâté bruschetta by the truck load! The feel of the place is very warm and inviting and the fact that this restaurant is pretty small only adds to the atmosphere. The wooden tables, leather couches and orange and blue color scheme gives Esca a contemporary Mediterranean vibe which is very relaxed and welcoming. Price wise it is excellent for the quality of food you get and there are usually some good deals available, especially for lunch. The menu is so varied that you can’t fail to find something you will enjoy and there are a few surprising and unusual dishes as well as everything you would expect to find at a good Italian.

I’m almost loathed to bring Esca to the attention of the wider public because I want to keep it for myself! It’s a lovely restaurant which serves tasty Italian food you’ll be returning for again and again. Both the A La Carte and Pre Theatre menus are varied and resonably priced and you can’t go wrong with a bottle of wine off their well stocked wine list. Their food is gorgeous, filling and well presented and the staff are warm and welcoming. And, because it’s quite small in size, you get a great level of attention without the dreaded hovering waiter! I have recommended this to all my friends and now I recommend it to you. But let’s keep it our little secret!

Esca is one of those places you walk pass and wonder if it’s any cop. I’ve visited it a few times at night and have always found the service prompt and the food of a high standard. Very handy if you’re visiting the Tron or the Musical Halls in the Merchant City.

And why not. This place is nice and has a very classy feel to it. Hidden down a wee street just off Argyle Street, Esca is a lovely continental type café serving homemade Italian grub to an appreciative group of regulars and stumblers inners… its a new technical term. With a definite up market café feel, the atmosphere is welcoming and the service is quick and friendly. As for the grub, well i certainly have heard no complaints and would never make one myself. having only ever frequented around the lunch time period i can only offer comment appropriate to this. Great, tasty and reasonably priced. A definite thumbs up from me. Classy wee joint with great grub, nice feel and good service… yum.

Esca is an Italian restaurant situated near the Tron theatre. I mainly use it as a lunchtime venue and find the service and food to be of a really good standard. It offers a good menu of traditional italian dishes, although if you want to steer clear of pasta there always seems to be a chicken or fish dish on the mains menu. The menu and specials board change regularly to offer variety and the house wine is of a good standard. The staff are friendly and good fun and there is always a busy atmosphere. I find it particularly useful if wanting to book for a large party and have found that the staff are well able to cope with a table of 16 or so people at lunchtime. Orders are taken the minute you arrive and meals are delivered to the table really promptly. The menu is well priced and although not overly adventurous offers good quality food for most tastes. Being near the Tron theatre, it is an ideal venue for dinner before a play.
