met a friend for lunch & decided to pop in for lunch. Decided against the set menu — £11.95 for 3 courses & coffee — and opted for some tasty pizzas. Good service & didn’t feel rushed which was good as we wanted a natter. Just a good, traditional Italian restaurant.

Decided to head in here for lunch yesterday because of the review from Mr CM Chris and was not disappointed! It was very quiet when we went in, so the lovely Polish waitress pleasantly welcomed us and seated us wherever we felt like sitting! We chose the table right next to the window because I adore people watching and got a great chance to do it there. We were given the lunch menu, which I think was 2 courses for £7.95, but don’t quote me on that as I’m not too sure! We decided we didn’t really want anything from that menu, so went for the main menu. I ordered bruschetta to start(surprise surprise!) and the carbonara because Chris made it sound so glorious! Colin went for a brandy, lemon and pepper soaked chicken, which wasn’t to my liking but he thoroughly enjoyed! Can’t remember what he ordered to start with though… The service was incredibly speedy, from the plates being delivered to plates being taken away, and the waitress was inquisitive about our enjoyment but not enough to be irritating about it. Despite having the look of a worn café from the outside, and the inner décor being mildly tacky, the experience inside is great, and the food really pushes it more into ‘Restaurant’ stature than ‘Café’. Go have a look for yourself!

Holy fudge! Well it turns out contrary to my check in comment, I have actually been here before! From the looks of my first review though, I’d only been in here for a wee snack and a non chain coffee blitz whilst escaping the shopping throng at the weekend. This visit though was much more in line with how I imagine these guys want to portray themselves… namely as an Italian restaurant(dur Chris!). So with a couple of dinner dates in tow, it was too the Italian we go with me in hungover hunger mode. Now normally I have a rule when I visit Italian joints. Stupid as it may sound, pasta is usually off the menu as I often refuse to eat something that I make quite often in the house(and which is usually more to my liking in terms of depth of flavour *read lots of garlic). Today though the belly required stodge and a all that could satisfy this desire was a big ass bowl of pasta. So, with all notions of the diet off the cards, a(what turned out to be) cream laden carbonara was ordered, delivered, devoured and delightfully enjoyed. Reasonably priced, decent service, slightly tacky décor(who cares really eh?) and tasty, tasty, tasty. Pasta is def back on the menu!

The other half and I ventured in here on a whim whilst looking for a nice place to celebrate an anniversary. Always a risk to try somewhere new on a special occasion, but what can I say, we’re just that gallus… And the gamble really paid off. We took advantage of the £7.952 course pre-theatre menu, which seemed to have more choice than usual for people like myself who don’t always fancy a meaty dish(I’m not veggie, just fussy!). Both starter and main were well presented, and the risotto we both plumped for came with or without chicken. Unusually, in my experience at least, it was served in a tomato-based sauce rather than a creamy/cheesy one, and it was a refreshing change. The portion I thought looked quite small on its arrival actually proved extremely filling, and I barely had room for dessert. However, it was, as I said, a special occasion, and given that the desserts were pleasingly inexpensive, we went the whole hog, and again we were not disappointed. Service was professional, prompt and with a smile. The restaurant’s choice of background music was slightly odd — 90s boybands ahoy — but it was at an inoffensive enough volume to ignore it if you wanted to, and I guess if I’m honest, a wee bit of Boyzone-tinged nostalgia does make me smile. Just a teensy bit, mind… I gather that the restaurant now only occupies half of the space it used to, with the other half having turned into a Malaysian place, but I felt the smaller size gave it a cosy atmosphere, perfect for an intimate, dare I say romantic, dinner. That said, a couple who came in with a child in a pram were accommodated efficiently and without fuss. I’ve noticed that the other reviews here are somewhat lukewarm, but I honestly didn’t find much, if any, cause for complaint. I’m hesitant to give the full 5 stars to a place I’ve only been to once, but I’m curious to see if they can earn that last star by being consistently good. So it’s settled, I’m definitely going back. Especially since I noticed the chocolate croissant on their breakfast menu…

Enjoyed a quick meal, lasagne, at this place before seeing a flick at the GFT one night in the time before the restaurant was split in half. Convenient location, friendly local feel, but wouldn’t go out of my way to return here…

Our former quaint local café when we were living in the City Centre. We would stumble in when we didn’t want to cook and felt like Italian. Pretty decent food at a decent price. Thoroughly enjoyed the bread whenever I would order a sandwich. However, the gelato was a bit of a let down compared to what I’ve experienced in Italy. Service was always friendly :-) Overall, decent Italian grub for the money.

We ate at Fazzi’s recently, while shopping on Sauchiehall street. You would almost walk past this place if it wasn’t for the fact that it’s always packed with customers. It’s quite a large café, and we settled in for the £6.95 lunch special. The bruchetta is very nice, one of the better one’s I’ve had. Maw had lasagne, one of her favourites, and she said it was nice, if nothing spectacular. The lunch was cheap, and the service ok, but there is nothing execptional that would keep me coming back here, unfortunately.

This little Italian café is essentially an Italian greasy spoon, although slightly classier. The food’s fine — I enjoyed my bruschetta(sometimes, places just get things right, and this was one of those times — the mozarella wasn’t rubbery, and the tomatoes werent soggy). The one downfall? The staff are a bit standoff-ish. Literally the woman barked at us about our order, and the food wasn’t as much pu down, as it was flung onto the table. Maybe she was just having a bad day I don’t know, but it didn’t earn her any tips. I didn’t dislike my experience, I just didn’t wholly enjoy it. Sorry, Fazzi.
