Happy Date sporting the traditional takeaway exterior, of yellow backdrop and red writing with some Chinese symbols. This is not all, they have a jungle in the window, strangely full of plastic plants and maybe some real live ones, the exterior does not call ‘Come and eat here’, it rather says ‘run away the food here is as bad as this window display’. Anyway I ordered curry and chips just to be safe, because you can’t go much wrong here. I was a bit worried at how safe it would be to eat, and with every mouthful felt myself getting ill. Of course this was just in my head because I had seen the shop, so those who order from an anonymous takeaway menu through the door will happily eat their food from the not so happy ‘Happy Date’. I wouldn’t recommend coming along to this Chinese if you live a bit out of the way as this really is not a nice area, and definitely avoid walking here. The prices are just normal for Chinese, for two your bill would be in the upper end of the teens just for basic mains, and base carbs.
