I love my gadget’s and often found in an electrical shop buying my gadgets. Maplin is a great place to find those unusual items that will never be found else where, where it is crocodile clips to a soldering iron.
They have a great website that allows you order online and check if they have that item in stock in a particular store, there is a magazine/​pamphlet that they mail out to regular buyers with all their special offers or end of line clearance range.
I came to a Maplin store a few years ago to buy a pacific 250 watt halogen bulb to walk out with two lighting effects that the manager wanted rid of this had to be one of the few days that l ever got such a great deal as l sold them to a guy on Gumtree the next day for a £200 profit.
Helpful staff always at hand if you are ever unsure just ask one of then.

Here’s a tip: if you’re looking for something to hook into your ipod, go to Maplin before you order it online.
I find the staff in Maplin to be reasonable, especially for a daftie like me. I don’t know what all this stuff does. I don’t want to know, I just wanna find what I need.
Helpful if asked, but otherwise they’ll drift around and ignore the lost and confused look on your face. Don’t be shy about it. Just ask.
I didn’t have the same problem as Lewis, fortunately, and I have returned things to them before and they’ve been ok about it. All I can say is that, comparing my and Lewis’s reviews about Maplin, they can be a bit inconsistant.
However, it’s worth dropping by there before over-​paying for something on the internet.
