We went here as a family for Sunday dinner yesterday. An exceptional choice, so nice we were stuck. I had haggis, neeps & tatties with a whiskey sauce to start and sea bream on rustic potatoes with spinach and a champagne cream… Delightful! All 4 in our party were most complimentary. The set Sunday menu is SUCH good value for money. 10⁄10

A second visit confirms this is one of the best places to come for special occasion food. A friendly welcome, interesting & seasonal menu, original art on the walls and really top notch and delicious food! It’s a bit of a hidden gem as it’s in the village of Carmunnock, but it’s worth the journey. The menu is small(which is how I like it — a small number of dishes done really well instead of lots of dishes done not so well) and changes weekly(if not daily) and includes local produce. I had west coast fish & seafood platter in a champagne sauce for my main course and it was amazing — 6 different fish/seafoods and the sauce was so light that it meant I could taste the fish. The side of veg was nice & crunchy, just how I like it. If you want to go somewhere special I’d highly recommend it!

This absolute gem is hidden away in the beautiful village of Carmunnock just south of Glasgow. I had never heard of it until I started working in East Kilbride and it was one of my team’s lunch spots, usually reserved for special occasions. When I put my notice in at work, this was my first choice for a leaving lunch with my team. Bit sad that it’ll be the last lunch I’ll have here in a while, but I’ll just have to make more of an effort to come here for dinner some evening or lunch some weekend! It’s a beautiful little place, really nicely laid out, beautiful interior and a nice relaxed atmosphere. I especially love the irregularly shaped rough wooden tables and the pictures of other Glasgow eateries on the wall — we sat below drawings of the Rogano, Two Fat Ladies and the Queens Café today. They have a small conservatory out the back which looks like a lovely place to sit and have a drink on a summer’s evening. They do a two course lunch for £10.95 and the menu is fantastic — this lunchtime we had Thai seafood stew, game casserole, macaroni cheese, haddock fishcakes and chicken burrito for our mains. Everybody was, as always, really happy with their food — it’s always lovely, really top quality; I’ve never had a single thing in six years of coming here that hasn’t been totally delicious. The staff are efficient and friendly and they’re really easy going — I changed the numbers for lunch twice before we actually arrived and it was no problem. The only thing about this place is that it’s not so easy to get to without a car. The number 31 bus from the city centre to East Kilbride goes via Carmunnock but I’m not sure how often it runs in the evening, especially for getting back into Glasgow. They do have a car park out the back so if you can pile everybody into a car and nominate a driver, it’s well worth the trip.

Went here for a drink after a funeral on the 1st of March. The owner(I think) was called Angus and he did his best to accommodate our party at fairly short notice when other establishments failed. The food was of the sandwich, sausage roll and scone variety but that was exactly what was asked for so there were no complaints there. The service from Angus and his staff was excellent, the whole place was clean, and the place has a nice ambience to it. It looks a nice place to go for a meal and there were plenty of satisfied looking customers. To summarise, I can’t really comment on the food hence I couldn’t give 5 stars but for setting, cleanliness and attentive staff it gets a well deserved 4.
