The best used(and new) vinyl shop in Glasgow. It’s a must, run by some great guys, who play some wild stuff while your browsing, and very helpful to find your thing too. Offerings from the bargain boxes through to highly sought pressings. Tons of genres available and singles to be had here too. Been a visitor at this place since my teens and still coming by for more.

I am new to shopping for vinyl records(feel free to send recommendations my way). I was given a record player for Christmas and now I need to find ways to build my collection without spending millions of pounds. Fortunately there seems to be a thriving second hand market in Glasgow, something that Mixed Up Records is a big part of. The unassuming store front on Otago Lane hides boxes and boxes of lovely vinyl to leaf through on an afternoon(not to mention CDs, casette tapes, DVDs, etc). The majority of the records are organised alphabetically with a few boxes off to the sides for certain genres. From what I’ve seen everything is in good condition too. Buying second hand vinyl feels like a bit of a risk but the boxes aren’t over filled, the record sleeves aren’t tatty and the two records I picked up play absolutely fine. They do have a handful of new releases as well but, naturally, you pay a little more for those.

I was in this store in november 15, and it was a very pleasant visit. Good collection at a good price. I come from Holland, and have already a huge collection of records(LP’s, seven inches and maxis) and every visit in the UK I will look for records, and this time I got home form this store with a very nice copy of an old EP of the Beatles. …Twist and shout When you have the chance, visit this store!

I’ve been on the hunt for a decent second hand record shop for a while, especially now my inner hipster is forcing its way out and I’m listening to vinyl again. I’ve been disappointed with a lot of the second hand stores I’ve been to as they seem to be stocking any old tat just because it’s on vinyl, or that anything decent has a horrible mark-up attached to it. In Mixed Up I’ve finally found what I was looking for. While it does have a decent new selection and sells CD’s and DVD’s, it’s all about the second hand vinyl. It caters for all types of shopper. The crate digger looking for bargains can spend hours flicking through the crates full of stock. The main difference between here and the other shops is that there is actually stuff in these racks that is worth buying: it might not be in the greatest nick, but there is a good chance that you’ll find something of interest. Prices in this section range from £1-£5 which is pretty decent(for example I got Hotel California and Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds for £1 each — a couple of scratches on both, but for that price who cares!). There is also a «premium» second hand selection, which is a wee bit more expensive — you may find the same albums here that are in the cheap section, but they are in better condition. This section is split into a number of sections, including 60’s &70’s, alternative, soul & R&B, and jazz. Again, there is a good selection of stock here to suit all tastes, and the prices are pretty sensible(for example — Public Enemy’s «It Takes A Nation of Millions…» was £7). This is a shop that is definitely going to be on my regular visits list. The stock is great, and it’s a nice place to spend a couple of hours in. Highly, highly recommended.

Record hunting in Glasgow is not an easy task. With the expense of a city store and the general lack of music shops selling vinyl’s, this hidden gem is worth looking for. Having owner a record player no longer than around 3 weeks, i have made various trips and have not been let down. With a great range of vinyl’s on display and a friendly staff who will help you find something in particular if you ask, what’s not to love? I have gathered their Fleetwood Mac; Stevie Nicks; Janis Joplin and ABBA records and bought them at very reasonable prices and they have been in almost mind condition every time. This store will be the reason i go bankrupt. Always having to hold myself back from taking a detour down Otago Lane.

This wee place can be a diamond mine for 2nd hand vinyl and very quickly relieve you of that surplus cash you never had to start with. Also good place to trade in any vinyl that didn’t survive the annual cull as they give pretty good trade in value and easy to find stuff to“swap” it for…
