Really love the renovation to the old Napiers. I’m not sure I would have changed the Unilocal’s business page for them though. Should have been combined for a renovation. Anyway the space is so much more open and easier to get around and see what they have to offer. I’m popping in for pregnancy things like Red Raspberry Leaf tea, prenatals and their facial creams. They have a great selection of tinctures, teas and vitamins. They also carry baby shampoo and other things like that for kids. The lady was very helpful and recommended some products I hadn’t considered before coming in.

I’m really not sure what’s going on with this place — the sign they had saying ‘Eagleshams’ has gone and they’ve gone back to the old-style ‘Napiers’ sign. I haven’t been back in since my last experience — see my review:

‘My name is Chris and I have geek neck’ For a while now i’ve noticed that I slouch. When passing reflections of myself in windows, I note that my head is almost at ground level… this is not good. So methinks, a trip to the osteopath type person is in order. Napiers. Done. Mr David(something) was my back cracker and boy does he know his stuff. After a brief yet extensive consultation, he got to work stretching me out, poking, prodding, cracking etc… To say that i feel better is like saying water is a bit wet. OK, I still slouch, however I’m more aware of it and try my best to correct it when I can. The entire experience at Napiers was great. Very friendly yet extremely professional. Heading back(yes I did) for another sesh later today…

Napiers is well known for it’s quality herbal medicines and the first store opened in Edinburgh in 1860! I didn’t know about this place until a few years ago. I used to suffer from tonsilits, it got so bad that I would get it pretty much every other month for around three years. Nowadays doctors are reluctant to take tonsils out due to rising numbers in complications from haemorrages post surgery. I was constantly on penicillin, gargling salt water and my mum even took me to Jan De Vries troon day clinic for a consultation and some alternative medicine which for me, only had a temporary effect of a few months and then the tonsilits was back with a vengence! I also tried crystal healing which stopped my tonsilitis for a couple of months too. My Gran told me about Napiers and said that I should go there to see what they would recommend, they told me about Manuka honey and some herbal drops which eased my tonsilits, needless to say I eventually got my tonsils taken out(thank God!) but Manuka honey is still one of those products that I have to have on my kitchen shelf at all times. The staff here are so helpful and attentive which has ensured Napiers is now my first point of call with any kind of ailment that I may have. The clinic offers treatments as well as over the counter medicine and everthing is very reasonably priced.

Oh yeahhhh… this is a lovely, cosy clinic which offers good quality treatments for reasonable prices. Even though I’m relatively new to the whole pampering scene — after years of scrimping and saving while at uni — I could tell immediately that this was something a little bit special. There was no embarrassment or, let’s face it, guilt about having someone else rub oil into your naked skin. Instead, the staff were super friendly, very relaxed and seemed genuinely happy to be doing their job. Well worth a visit, I’ll definitely go back.

A swanky Holland and Barrett. I go through loads of multivitamins which I usually get from Asda, but have occasionally dabbled in some of the gear in here. It is considerably more expensive, but hey. It looks like a pharmacy up north somewhere or something, which is cool. The staff are super friendly and helpful which is reassuring for me when it comes to health-related matters. It’s fast approaching Hayfever season for me. I wonder if they have any herbal rememdies? They do aromatherapy as well I hear.

As the market for natural therapy has expanded, Napiers have thankfully not mistaken it for a part of the beauty industry and still offer a service that is more about the individual’s health needs rather than a generic massage or vague«one homeopathy fits all» remedy. It is not the cheapest massage centre, but you can be guaranteed a proper aromatherapy mix, not one from a pre-packaged bottle, and the staff do take time to actually ask what you are trying to achieve. It is nice to be in a place that takes its therpay seriously, and doesn’t just see it as a sales opportunity: for that reason, any extra cost– which is marginal, anyway, is well worth it.

I’ve popped into this place a couple of times to stock up on vitmamins and other herbal remedies. The staff are really friendly and helpful and will be able to help you choose the herbal treatment that’s right for you. The place has a lot more on offer too– aromatherapy, and theraputric massages are available here.

If you’re looking for a relaxing massage, go no further. Napier’s will offer you a hot stone massage for a reasonable price. All the oils and lotions they use are completely natural, and smell amaaaaazing… One of the best massages I’ve ever had — it was very relaxing indeed… It wasn’t all pan-flute music and people with bells on their feet either(I have previously experienced this. It is far from relaxing), just a nice, very natural comfort. So if you’re looking to unwind, I’d stop by here — the shop also sells all the oils they use, so you can recreate the relaxation at home… oommmmmmm…
