It is what it is. Generic theme chain, serving no bad pub grub and a fairly decent Guinness. Usual range of popular lagers on draught and a selection of whiskies.

The only time you will find me here is when it is somebody else’s night and I am unable to sway them to a different destination. Usually it’s is a works leaving night and I think the idea behind it is that it’s central and has plenty of space for a big group of people. Soulless is probably the best description for this place. It is a big generic pub that sells boring beer at expensive prices. The food seems like it is probably cooked from frozen and has very little thought or effort put into it. Generally on a Friday night it is full of drunken office workers, hen/stag parties or divorce parties.(Yep the latter was there last week) Not sure what else I can add to the above. If you can, I would avoid and go to one of the many other great pubs in the city. This place has no atmosphere I am afraid,

As other folk have said this pub isn’t great shakes for food but that’s not why I go there. I go on football nights, more specifically when Scotland are playing. The atmosphere is good, I’ve not witnessed any violence and as a woman I feel safe. Trading on an Irish name, last night both Scotland & Ireland fans were huddled together both bemoaning their sides lost chances and the air turned blue a few times with the swearing but it was all good natured. I’m not sure it would be a destination pub for me on any other night, but it’s pretty decent for the football with two large screens & four smaller ones which show different matches with the sound down.

Been told by an employee of the company that they are trying to cook the food here from fresh than the usual frozen biscuit that they where serving. When you order your food you have to ask now at the bar what do they have as the first three starters where off the menu due to poor ordering. Only one problem there is no chefs, and these guys are not willing to pay chef wages hence loads of issues with food for the past few months. No one is willing to be a chef on a cooks wage NMW. At the weekends the door staff can be picky on who gets in no matter who you are! I would prefer to be told your an ugly f*cker and ain’t getting in. Staff are not trained on how to serve l could be standing at the bar for half an hour as someone else walks in and they are served straight away, What’s that all about O’neills Sort your act out!

O’Neill’s is one of those pubs that people seem to be obsessed with — I’ve never understood what is so special. It’s just a pub. The only part that gives it any sort of advantage for me is being able to sit in Merchant Square and drink. I’m a Malibu drinker. Uncommon, I know. I feel like theirs is watered down, or something. I don’t want to accuse them of anything but it always tastes a bit weak, and I feel like I could drink £50 away and not be drunk. I always feel a little ripped off! The staff are really lovely and despite it being a really busy bar you always get served promptly. My issue with O’Neill’s is that it lacks character, isn’t particularly good value for money and more often than not its cold.

O Neill’s branch in the Merchant City is bigger and better than all their other pubs around the city. It’s set in a beautiful building, it’s always got the better side of a busy atmosphere, you can normally find a table and they have big screens which show major sporting events. The staff are always super pleasant and it’s a good place for a catch up with mates since the pints are cheap and there’s enough space to fit your pals in. Yes, it’s a chain pub, so it’s not high class wining and dining like a lot of places in the Merchant City. The food in O Neill’s is the usual stuff you get in chain pubs, but if you’re looking for somewhere more economical and less frilly in the Merchant City then you’ve found a decent, perfectly functional watering hole.

This O’Neill’s always sticks in my head for the dubious honour of «Worst pub lunch I’ve ever had.» I visited with my boyfriend a while back when we were looking for something cheap and easy to eat. Even though the place was empty, we had to wait an eternity to be served. When we finally got our food, it was absolutely rubbish. The portions were tiny and my pasta tasted like it was made with Asda’s Smart Price sauce. My boyfriend was less than impressed with his burger. It’s wasn’t that cheap either. With tons of options for good pub grub in Glasgow, there really is no excuse to stop at this place.

Eh? Where are the sounds of people? The laughs of friends having a good time? Where’s the atmosphere? I just feel like everytime I’m in here it’s lacking something. Maybe it’s because it’s a little dull? On Saturday nights, Sunday lunch times and when big football matches are on, it seems to turn a new face though. The big space, big screens and cheapish food and drink attract large groups of people. The food is good. A lot better than a Wetherspoons but you’ll also pay a pound or so more. And the staff? Lovely!

Irish pubs worldwide don’t exactly show an accurate representation of a night out in Dublin, or anywhere else in Ireland for that matter. They all seem to be about something called«the craic», fiddle music and dated stereotypes. O’Neills however, is a strange one. It seems to me their idea of «Irish» is to remove any traces of Irish culture from the pub, along with any discernable atmosphere, and merely highlight that they use Irish beef in their microwaved burgers. At least its cheap.

big pub whose only virtue is showing live football, no decent beer just gassy keg, and when its busy you can wait all day to be served

If you want good irish food and drink at reasonable prices then O’Neills is for you. It gets extreely busy at weekends and also shpws football and rugby league mathes when the bar gets packed out! Great for a casual lunch or snack, the bar staff are helpful and friendly, and the service fast. They have live music on occasion too, and the bar is perfectly situated in the Merchant City.

Too busy, unclean. The staff were incredible, can’t say much for the management though. Headless chickens anyone?
