Never before have I seen a shop stock such an array of items — old television sets, baths, Edwardian furniture, rugs, cats, buses, trains… This is of course an extensive stockist of dollshouses and model railway equipment, for all your hobby needs! I used to go in here when I was wee and treat it like I treat B & Q now — I bought many a beautiful ceramic bathtub from here, not to mention the odd Indian rug. It’s nice to see it hasn’t changed in 20 years. Not only can you buy some dolls house equipment that looks like it’s been teleported straight from the 60s(or, more likely bought in from Ebay) there is a plethora of old and new model cars, railways and just about everything you need from this arena. Browsing this shop is like looking at the world in miniature, some of the toy furniture is so accurate it looks like it’s made to scale! As much as this shop would be entertaining for youngsters it’s great for adults, too, in particular diehard diecast collectors. It could almost act like a dollhouse museum! It’s comforting to see that somewhere like this still exists in habitual reality and hasn’t been lost to computer games and the internet generation.

Admittedly, knowing this shop was here would have made precisely no difference to my life thus far. Yet it’s thrilling nonetheless to discover an independently-owned niche business in an area you’d least expect. As far as I was concerned, this stretch of Maryhill Road was all tanning salons, bookies and pubs. However shoehorned in the middle is this lovely little shop which caters for all scaled-model enthusiasts. Having not played with a train set since the age of 8 the intricacies are lost on me, but the owner clearly knows his stuff and there seems to be a wide variety of stock. What’s more, the business also designs its own accessories for doll houses, some of which are scarily realistic. With a fine collection of war memorabilia as well, it’s a great place for a scout around and although it’s not really my bag, fingers crossed there are enough enthusiasts around to keep businesses like this thriving.

If your a scale model enthusiast, a habitual glue sniffer or even a glue sniffing scale model enthusiast then you may as well kill yourself now because as far as shops go this is the place to be. ” here lies Davie he passed away happily in his shed with a B52 down his pants and a tube of UHU up his nose”.ok maybe not but this really is a good we store. despite not really being into the whole scale model scene i can guess that this is the type of wee store that floats the authentic wooden galleon of those who do. With a nice feel to the place and what appears to a healthy stock i reckon this place must have a loyal fan base and rightly so.
