I hadn’t been to Pinto in months and months and when wandering past today at lunch time I decided to pop in for a lunch time burrito. I’m not going to lie, I was looking forward to a big, messy, delicious chunk of food! It was pretty quiet for lunch time — other people must be trying to be healty? — and I got served straight away. I went with the barbacoa beef burrito which starts at £5.95 to take away. My server asked me what beans I wanted, but didn’t explain the options until I asked, asked me what salsa I wanted, again didn’t explain the options and there’s 5 different salsas including a rather tasty looking sweetcorn one, so it would have been nice given how quiet they were for a bit of customer service to be honest. My half made burrito was then passed to the third server who asked what else I’d like on it, leaving me to request some items from the pots in front of him. I went with lettuce, cheese and guacamole. Once the guacamole was on my burrito I was told that would be an extra 75p was I okay with that? Hmmm not really to be honest, as for a small scoop on my burrito it didn’t seem worth it, but what was he going to do scrape it off. Meh. So for £6.70 my lunch was okay-ish, the beef was very tender but lacked any real taste. The strongest flavour was the medium spiced salsa I went with(which was very liquid compared with the mild or hot salsa that looked like homemade salsa full of chopped tomtoes, onions etc.) and the guacamole I wish I hadn’t added. So I’m not in a great rush to head back.

From greeting to eating, pinto is fantastic. Portion size is really good and as much choice as you could want. I visited at 830pm and the food was clearly fresh. Highly recommended

Was expecting so much more from this… And was left disappointed twice. That was after I sent food back, I ordered the wrap less burrito, but it was cold, all of it, brought it back and lady told me the cheese must of cooled the rest down. Seriously, I walked from the counter to the bench literally 5 feet away! My second helping was warmer but bland… Gauacamole which I paid 75p extra for was no better than guacamole style dips you get at supermarkets and the beans and chicken, well bland. Only thing I’d give credit to was the spicy salsa, that was good. Was sorry I made the effort to go here. For all of the fantastic deals locally I feel I was ripped off at 17 for two burritos and two drinks, from a takeaway with a few stools.

Being a chef with great taste buds. I’m giving this place 5. I ordered the Beef quesadilla. It hit the spot. Cut into 3, served in a box, with a can of Iron Bru £5.50 I think it was. I say. Eat here as it tastes great. Things like guacamole, and sour cream are an extra charge. Worth every penny. You can take away, or sit in. Girl who served me was really friendly. And the boss talking from behind the back to me, sounded friendly too. Poor wee lassie couldn’t hear well, because of swimming she said. Lucky for her, as I talk too much

The burritos from here are really great, I keep coming back for more! Chicken, pulled pork and beef are all very good. I also had a quesadilla recently which was good but it contained grilled lettuce — a bit unusual(admittedly I did say ‘yes’ when asked if I wanted lettuce!). The price for food is reasonable and they have a loyalty card so you can get one free after 10 meals. The only thing I tried recently and didn’t like were the soft Tacos, too watery and not big enough for a meal unless you order something else with them.

Pinto=Mexican subway and the Gordon st one is the most similar one. We went to the Hope st one but didn’t like the atmosphere. The Gordon st one is subway-style: staff are very efficient, not too many seats and a big front window seat. The veggie«sandwich» was nice, but not as exciting as I expected. Would love to try some other veggie snacks next time.(They have sweet potato thing that looks nice and nachos) There a special meal deal with a drink, but not a big fan of drinks so not sure if it’s good VFM. So got the nachos. very filling(more than wrap) and somehow work better with the *same* veggie combo. Good quality tasty nachos. Can I just say this about pinto: food is very basic and menu is not that exciting, but so far everything has been good quality and so fresh, nothing like ever had before. Hope it’s just as good next time, when I’m going to try the third veggie option.

Let me set the scene. It was Friday afternoon, 4pm. We were going out for dinner on Friday night, but I needed food. And I needed food now. I don’t do well on an empty stomach(hence my roller derby moniker«Miso Hangry»). To avoid a hulk-style meltdown, I steered my husband here. I thought that a quesadilla was exactly what I needed, and I was right. I went for pulled pork and had medium salsa which was a touch too spicy for me, but with a side of sour cream was just perfect. Coming in at £4.45 I think that is a pretty decent price for what you’re served up! The shop was relatively quiet when we were in and I guess it would be heaving in here at lunch times — this is the smallest Pinto, by far with seating for around 10 people. They open til 10pm which would make a great pit stop for food on the way to Central Station, if for some reason you didn’t feel like pakora(who am I kidding?! Pakora is one of the best things that happened to me since moving to Glasgow!).

I think I’m still 80% burrito today after having one yesterday! That was a big burrito! I suppose it’s my own fault, given you get the chance to choose the filling and the extras. Cream and cheese don’t exactly sit delicately on the tummy. But my pork burrito was so tasty and moreish I just had to keep going in. I chose the black beans and medium spicy chowder too which had a definite nip to it. This place is tiny and bustling with new customers every two seconds but they leave just as quick, thanks to the friendly and efficient staff, so we weren’t waiting too long. Although this one is more of a takeaway I didn’t think I could multi-task walking and eating my mammoth lunch so decided to sit in and navigate my way through it but will definitely try the bigger Pinto next time I want to take a seat, relax and attack!

It’s hard to fault Pinto, it’s very much a ‘does exactly what it says’ kinda place — that is, serve tasty Mexican street style food with no frills. Order a burrito, pick a filling and extras and you are good to go. Plenty of options and ranges of ‘heat’ available as well, so if you are a fan of the hot stuff you can get your fill(I’m a mid-range kinda guy though). The staff are friendly, there is a nice casual vibe to both the Gordon Street branch(that I visited) and the Queen Street branch. It’s not a restaurant experience but for tasty food at short notice(almost fast food) it’s great.

i’d just run a 10K so was between absolutely knackered and absolutely starving, so on my way back to the train station to go back to edinburgh i remembered Pinto was nearby off a side street. without too much thought i immediately knew that a post run burrito would be the perfect lunch and popped into the shop. it’s a tiny place, so not much room to eat in especially if it’s busy. i was getting mine to go so this wasn’t a problem for me. i was served quite promptly and they assemble your burrito in front of you. there’s four meat options and a veggie option all to be combined with the usual rice, beans, cheese, sour cream, salsa, and for an extra charge guacamole or jalapenos. i went for my usual tex mex favourite, pulled pork! my burrito also had pinto beans, cheese, sour cream, mild salsa(like a pico de gallo), and rice. once i paid i was on my way within less than 10 minutes of entering the shop. sadly my train was delayed so i was stood waiting for quite awhile before i could actually sit down and eat my burrito(fyi i hate scotrail a lot at the moment…) thankfully my burrito stayed toasty warm and when i did get to eat it, i was thoroughly satisfied. i actually felt like i was cheating on my usual tex mex favourite in edinburgh i enjoyed the burrito so much!!! the pulled pork was a bit on the spicy side, but when combined with the salsa, sour cream, and cheese it was just ace. totally hit the spot and very very enjoyable! i definitely look forward to getting another opportunity to try this place out :)

Hmm I was umming and ahhing about whether this would get a 3 or a 4(come on Unilocal, gimme 0.5 markings — I’m too indicisive!!) for quite a while given that I have had a lot of good burritos from many different places recently — most notably America — and most of these were better than what was on offer at Pinto’s. HOWEVER, because I AMBURRITOADDICT and this definitely hits the spot, I must go for a 4. This is very much a takeaway place compared with their spot on Queen Street, as although there is a small amount of seating if a queue appears in the shop you’re going to be getting very friendly with your fellow burrito munchers. Great selection of Cholua sauces including the Chipotle, although they aren’t hot enough for me and personally I prefer the sauce options at the Queen St branch. The food itself is great, although the meat is a bit too watery so you end up with some liquid leaking from your burrito… and it could do with being a bit hotter(both temperature and spice-wise).

I grabbed a pulled pork with spicy sauce quesadilla for lunch today. Unfortunately I had to take out and get back to my desk so main comment on the actual food, which was really nice, if a bit drippy. There is a good selection of traditional Mexican offerings(Taco, Quesadilla, Burrito, Torca) to please you. The food was nice, the spicy sauce was spicy(you can for two levels of mild if you’re a wuss) and the service was quick and friendly :) The place is pretty small with a small table for diners to sit in and eat but had a chilled atmosphere and I reckon I’ll be back for a bit of latino scran sometime soon!

I don’t know if you guys know this already, but I really love Mexican food. I mean. REALLY. But unfortunately I hadn’t been able to get up to Glasgow for a while for a Pinto. Imagine my delight when a sheer brainwave came over me when I decided to go to Pinto in Gordon Street for lunch on Monday afternoon, on my way to Stirling to visit a friend. It was quick, fast and simple. I had a chargrilled chicken quesadilla and it was marvellous. I remember the look of bliss I had on my face whilst eatimg my quesadilla on the train. They even put it in a cute little box for you if you’re taking away! What’s not to love? They offer more options here than the Queen Street branch in terms of food items-I personally can’t eat an entire burrito! So my hat goes off to you, Pinto Queen Street. Well done.

Pinto advertises itself as fresh, fast and healthy and both branches fail to disappoint! The Gordon Street store is much smaller than the original(about a sixth of the size) but while the remit of the Queen Street store seems to be sit down, chill out and share a beer with friends the Gordon Street store is more of a pop in for a quick bite, spotted this place while passing by, takeaway joint and it fits the bill perfectly. Despite this, the modern décor and cosy feel makes for a pleasant sit in experience while the store is quiet. This store caters well to vegans, veggies, gluten free and has a wide variety of food options depending on how hungry you are and how spicy you enjoy your food. The staff are also super friendly, helpful and attractive… Which always helps. Not that I am biased or anything ;)

After seeing on twitter than Pinto in Glasgow are branching out and opening another couple of locations, I felt I just had to come try this one out. Located on bustling Gordon Street, it’s perfectly placed for a hell of a lot of custom, and I have no doubt that is what it will get! The food itself is fast, cheap and tastes absolutely great. There’s not a lot of options, but I like that; they know what their strengths are and they’re being played on. I went for the pulled pork quesadilla which was delicious; a huge helping of pulled pork with guacamole, salsa, sour cream and melted cheese. Yes please. At around £7, as the guacamole is a bit extra, it’s excellent value for money. I foresee this place being incredibly busy and doing very well!

I had saw on the Pinto facebook page that this exciting hot bundle of tastiness was opening another store on busy Gordon Street. I had been in town and noticed how awesome it was looking, it’s a cute baby version of its other branch in Queen Street. I knew I needed to try and very soon. I ended up back in town a couple days after and I zoomed straight to Gordon Street. I noticed that this branch opens a lot earlier so I thought I could try out their breakfast menu. Unfortunately I got there just over 5 minutes too late, as they stop serving at 11am. Ah bums! Next time! Well I’ll just have to satisfy myself with a, new on the menu, pulled pork quesadilla. I sat my bahookie on one of their stools at the window and was greeted with my most appetising Mexican toastie ever. The staff were lovely and even though it’s a little hub it’s one hot venue of satisfying nourishment. It has a great feel and I like the modern décor. I believe it will work well and especially custom from those busy business work type folk. Grab a hot coffee in the morning and grab a hot delight for your lunch. Get in!
