I was in the area doing a little shopping on Byres road and came here for lunch one afternoon, we both chose the burger & coffee’s, as you can’t really go wrong with that. The bar & seating area was nicely decorated and from the bar area I could see quite a good selection on offer especially three hop one of my favourites. The burgers was quite good and with the coffee was quite good value, I think their down side was that they where the able to find an identity, it confused me as I thought this was still run by the butterfly and pig to be told later that it wasn’t. I think at the end of the day if you cannot think of your own ideas, and steal someone else’s your days are already numbered. Rest in peace pop up pig.

Pop Up Pig has an interesting selection of draught beers and bottled ales, as well as cocktails. We were in on a quiet weekday evening, so not many folks in(it seemed to be friends of the bar staff as they all joined in when reccomending beers!). We had a wonderful and new(to us) dark smoky Shetland beer, which was quite expensive but not as dear as some places in town sell bottled ales for, and it was nice to try something new. We didn’t have food but it looked much less vegetarian friendly than other nearby establishments, so I don’t think we would go for food, but if we fancied somewhere different one evening we would go back.

I wish I read the reviews before going here but it was our second choice after our fave dumpling monkey was closed. I wish we saved our money and went somewhere else. The service itself was good, attentive and friendly this is why they have been given one star. For starters I got the special of mushroom and tarragon soup which was nice and I could eat it again, my husband got the muscles in white wine and cream sauce which again was lovely. The issue was with the mains, I got the special of short rib shepherds pie, this came with no meat only fat which I had to pick out and the sauce was very red wine tasting that you really needed a spoon for. The mash potato on top wasn’t enough to soak up the sauce and was a bit too soft so it all mushed together. My husband got a burger which looked nice and he ate most of it although he asked for no dressing or sauces on any of his meal but the side salad had dressing, we also got told the only salad was on the burger. My main was the worst out of all of the dishes but we wouldn’t go back for any of the rest. The manager/waiter advised us he was planning on stopping big meals and changing to fast food which I guess might do this place some good(if the chef is new). I’m sure it’s a fab bar for a night out as it’s quite big and has cozy soft seats at the windows. I would avoid :(.

Went here for lunch and my advise to the place is, if you are not ready to open don’t open. There is nothing worse than sitting down to lunch while painters and joiners are working in the same room, shouting at each other and going up ladders. Food was awful too. Two members of staff that took our order and showed us to our table were very nice and helpful.

Came here with my sister from another mister Elizabeth F for a wee post-work drink last Friday. I was a fan of the B&P that was here previously and also Bruadar that was here before that… is this place cursed?! I don’t understand why bars/restaurants never stay here for very long as it is a prime position for pulling in plenty of punters(lots of P’s there, in keeping with the Pop Up Pig theme!) Anyhoo, it hasn’t changed much since it was the B&P; a lot of their signage is still up. The main change is the bar itself and what they now serve. Gone are the multitude of taps for the craft beers and ales and in their place more spirits and a cocktail menu. Cocktails are a very pocket friendly £4.55 and I tried the Margarita and very nice it was too. Beer wise its not a great choice; it’s more your usual suspects but I did spot one called Three Hop(£4.20 a pint I think?) which I hadn’t tried before so asked if I could try that & the barman kindly let me. It was a nice, hoppy lager style beer. Elizabeth had the Dark Cherry Bulmers(and also a French Martini) but we also spotted on tap the Dark Fruits Strongbow if you like your ciders fruity, ooh-err! The bar staff were very nice and later on in the evening when I ordered some cocktails the barman kindly offered to bring them over to us which I thought was a nice touch & saved me having to hang aboot the bar like an old jakey. Later on I also tried one of the 3 Old Mout ciders they had for sale; the lime & kiwi flavour, it was really nice and tasted(dangerously) very non-alcoholic! *hic!* If you like your cider then this bar is for you. We asked about food but they said they’re still setting up their kitchen so no food as of yet, which was a shame as we had a great table right by the big window. Comfy seat and a nice atmosphere throughout. When this place starts serving food I’m sure it will become more popular. The only thing that I wasn’t a fan of was their toilets — they’re quite far away down the stairs(it was so cold!) and a lot of the toilets had seen better days and also quite a few taps didn’t have a wee handle on them so you couldn’t use them. Ooft. Also, again once down there it was VERY cold. It’s still early days but I can see myself coming back here, especially when they start serving food. It’s a great spot and handy for the subway/buses. I will be back fo’ sure!
