I used to work in Princes Square and as such would find myself popping into Reiss quite often. I got a gorgeous little black dress here a couple of years ago for Christmas and it’s stunning, perfect fit, great quality and has a classic look about it. I don’t shop in Reiss a lot though and my dress is the only thing I’ve ever bought from here. It’s not that I don’t like it, I just tend to think of it as the kind of place I would like to shop when I’m in my 30’s when I have a high flying job and my own organised immaculate house. Maybe that’s just wishful thinking but that’s how I want things to play out. I think the clothes are sophisticated and classy and I’ve seen many stunning trouser suits in here that I would love to have when I’m a little order. Plus the fact that my student budget is pretty tight and I can’t afford to shop in Reiss most of the time. Oh well, I can still window shop.

This Reiss store is a great middle ground between your high street favorites and the designer boutiques. The clothes are excellent quality, especially the knitwear which is usually made from quality wools such as merino. The only problem with this is that most Reiss clothes are dry clean only so it’s worth thinking about how much that is going to cost you in the long run as well. Also I am a big fan of Reiss shoes as they are always classic but never boring. The staff are a great help and I always feel bad when I don’t buy something after they have followed me around for an hour while carrying all my stuff! However when I do by something, I love how they wrap it up all nice in tissue paper and you get that lovely cream and silver Reiss bag which tells fellow shoppers, «That’s right, I have just bought myself something gorgeous. Now I have no money for proper food so its beans on toast for a week.»

I’m more than happy to confess my love for Princes Square. Beautiful architecture, fabulous restaurants and cafes, great atmosphere AND a taste of high fashion right on the high street. And the Reiss Womanswear store is a great example of this. It sells beautiful runway and designer inspired clothes with a little bit less of a price tag than you’d find in the true high fashion stores. This store in particular is great. It has that wonderful minimalist feel to it which just screams EXPENSIVEQUALITYFASHION.(Two things that attract me greatly, to be honest, even if I am living on a penniless writer’s budget…) The staff are well-trained and attentive and offer a kind of service that is near-extinct on the high street. Obviously from the name you can tell that there is no catering for men at this particular store. Sorry guys, you’ll have to make a trip out in the cold to the Exchange Square store!
