Always my happy place to go for wine, oh and food occasionally ha ha!!! The staff here are always very helpful especially when I am wandering around in a fug, and when I am attempting to use the quick check out or not so quick as I always have to have assistance. Got some lovely Prawns here today after trying two other shops and they were on offer half price now that is what I like. Although this is a supermarket chain it also has the feel of a local shop.

I live near a small Sainsbury’s and a similarly sized Tesco and while they generally cover my basic grocery needs, there are some spots where they fall short. Namely, each store carries only one brand of pickles and those pickles happen to be sweet(AKA: terrible). So if I want to eat a pickle that doesn’t taste like sugar, I’ll make the trek out to this store. There are plenty of other sections of the store that offer more selection than my Sainsbury’s Local, but honestly, I’m just here for the pickles.

The grocery checklist: 1) Operating Hours: from 8am to 10pm, food shop to your heart’s desire 2) Accessibility: just off of Crow Road, with plenty of parking throughout the shopping plaza 3) Convenient Location: yes, it’s just a hippity hop from my flat 4) Selection: wide and varied, you’ll find pretty much every basic necessity you would want from a comprehensive grocery store 5) Food counters: bakery, deli and fish 6) Clean: yup, there are staff members throughout the store either cleaning or re-stocking I’ll normally go to Sainsbury’s if I’m in a pinch for a basic ingredient that I don’t have at home and forgot to order with our weekly Tesco/Waitrose delivery. Guess I like to be spoiled by not having to lug heaps of groceries to the flat all by my wee self.

Residents of Partick are lucky to have a choice of three medium-sized supermarkets to choose from — Morrisons, Marks & Spencers and Sainsburys. My preferred choice is usually Morrisons, being the cheapest of the lot. Sainsburys is in the middle. It is much more spacious than Morrisons, especially down the aisles, and the checkout queues are normally shorter. There also seems to be a wider choice of food, but I just can’t really bring myself to accept some of the prices, such as nearly four quid for a packet of four chicken fillets, when Morrisons offer two packs for £3. Another good point about Sainsburys is its large car park, which is far less complicated than the maze that is the Morrisons car park. Unlike the latter, Sainsburys customers just enter and exit from the same road, resulting in far less congestion than at its competitors’ place. There is a lot of good points about Sainsburys overall — the shorter queues and more spacious layout probably make it a better choice than Morrisons for many people. Just a pity it’s so damn expensive.

I love Sainburys — though I’ve never been able to give an adequate reason why. They’re usually smaller, with less range and variation than their competitor, more expensive and lacking in atmosphere completely(which I suppose arguably all supemarkets are). This one is no exception to the general rule, and so if I’m being unbiased I must rate it lower. It’s always busy when I go(no doubt because of it’s size) and I’m always disgruntled when I leave. Yet, I still keep going. Maybe I’m a secret snob, or maybe it’s just that my fellow customers don’t smell bad, unlike some other well-placed supermarkets in the area…

This supermarket is located in Crow Road retail park so is really handy if you want to combine your supermarket shop with a visit to Boots, Argos, Au Natural and Marks and Spencers. It is a medium sized supermarket and is always well stocked. It has a fish and deli counter and always has a good selection of fresh fruit and vegetables. It does not stock clothes. The checkouts are always well serviced and queing times are kept to a minimum. I always find that staff in this store are very friendly. Another bonus is that they always seem to have a fair selection of products marked down in price. In my opinion it is one of the best Sainsbury’s around.
