Used to really love this place! Another cheap & cheerful place to have a quick dinner before the cinema or something. But not too long ago they changed their menu and we weren’t impressed with it. I used to always order their fish & chips and it was always really nice, no bones etc, but since the menu change the fish has also been changed and is now absolutely riddled with bones. Also there is a minimum card payment and so if we both want another drink but want to pay with a card we then have to purchase 3 drinks just to jump past the minimum amount, pretty annoying. Used to like this place but not impressed any more.

This place is a hit and miss, but the majority of the time I’ve been it’s been good, it’s also known for being quite rough, but again every time I’ve been in I haven’t had any problems. I wouldn’t discourage anyone taking their family here but it’s not 5* dining, food is reasonable & reasonably priced, drink is cheap. Everybody’s happy

Now part of the Sizzling Pubs Co. chain, the Springcroft, just off Edinburgh Road in the Springhill area, used to be a Brewer’s Fayre. It’s a touch one to rate for me. Let’s start with the food. Well, frankly, it’s absolutely abominable. Reconstituted crap, frozen and then re-heated and shoved down in front of you without the slightest hint of an attempt at presentation. My friends and I ate here once(and once only!) recently, and my spaghetti and meatballs were literally — without exaggeration — from a tin. Sloppy, yellow pasta, with that horrible baked bean tomato sauce. I was horrified, to say the least. The burgers aren’t much better. At £5−6 per plate, you can hardly expect gourmet dining, but it’s still absolutely atrocious. However, since it’s my local, it’s really handy and is a great place to meet up with friends for a drink. Drink prices are pretty reasonable. There isn’t a huge selection of drinks, but for your typical pub it isn’t bad at all. They have loads of cheap wines. For a local pub, it’s pretty well kept. Not a lot of atmosphere but there’s a good crowd and the pub quiz is lways a good laugh. Give the food a miss!
