This place is *dangerous* The kettles of booze were my downfall — as were the very friendly(and flirtatious) stable-boy themed bar-staff offering them up. «They’re meant for sharing, but we won’t tell if you won’t». OKAYTHEN I’LLHAVETWO. The place is dimly lit and obviously catering for the revelers aiming for the Polo Lounge downstairs out on their pre-clubbing drinks. I’m a massive fan of the private booths with the gates(you can book them for your party or just jump in if they’re having a quiet night). I’m a huge fan of gimmicky bars(especially gimmicky gay bars) and this place has all the boxes ticked under that category. Get the P**sed off japanese minnow farmer in a kettle before losing the rest of your night in the Polo Lounge — it’ll be one of the best nights out you’ve ever had.

I’ve been in here a couple of times, both for shows and both times left a little underwhelmed, but maybe that’s because I’ve not tried is as a regular bar? That said, the staff are great, prices are good and it’s got a good vibe to it as it always seems busy! The bar is pretty small but the staff do a great job of keeping on top of things without ever making you feel rushed. The main downside for me, and again I’ve only been in here to see a couple of shows, is the noise level. I’m not sure if it’s the shape of the room but both times the acts on stage have been in competition with the noise from the rest of the bar. Maybe the PA system just needs to be louder? I’ll be back no doubt, maybe for drinks next time to see if it’s different without any acts on.

Formerly Moda, this little place has been knocked through to act as an extension to The Polo Lounge and you can see the horse theme running in the name. I think this place is styled on a wild west Cabaret Saloon bar and it seems to work. The place is pretty badly lit but I like the private boots with the gates! They’re kind of cool. I also love the music they play, it’s a welcome break from the cheese that you go back to downstairs in the Polo Lounge. Great place for sneaking into Polo without coughing up the cash before a certain time. The cocktails are also absolutely to die for. Try a ‘Candy Overkill’ if you’re a fan of sweet drinks, it’s absolutely heavenly tasting! They even put a little bit of candyfloss in it…

Formally Moda, I can’t actually decide if this place has improved or worsened since becoming The Riding Room. Bit of both maybe. Moda was very classy and quiet and enjoyable, but TRR is a cabaret/incredibly badly lit kinda joint and I’m not 100% sure I like it yet. I do like the strange fact they sell their cocktail pitchers in big kettles, and you can also«ring for service» at your table with a wee bell, but on a Thursday I was given a row for using it as it wasn’t the weekend. Maybe I need to experience this place a bit more before finalising a decision, but at the moment I’m torn!

This has to be one of the best nights out you can have for such a reasonable price… cabaret all weekend and they donl;t even charge an entry fee!!! Great acts, great drink prices and selection… fabby atmosphere The staff are welcoming and extremely attentive, even when the place is mobbed… which is pretty much anytime after 10pm :) Wendi x
