The opening hours are pretty limited and the branch is usually busy, especially around lunch time, but they’re pretty good at dealing with their customers quickly. These days they usually have two desks open and one additional member of staff working through the line of people to see if anyone could use the automatic paying in machine to avoid keeping a desk busy.
Staff don’t always know what to do with less common banking requests (for example, when account types change) but they can usually find you an advisor who does know what they’re doing, or can make you an appointment if necessary. Unfortunately the process for making such appointments is pretty slow, otherwise I’d be inclined to give an extra star.
Providing comfy seats and tablets for online banking is a nice touch. I just wish they were open a little bit later.

The staff in this RBS seem to go out of their way to help you, and are very friendly despite the fact it’s busy and looks stressful to work in!
A couple of years ago, however, I would’ve scored this place with three stars as a member of staff managed to mess up some of my banking, and was pretty slow when she was serving me. I’m a very patient person but it took her almost an hour. After waiting that long for a resolution, your patience runs out.
Thankfully I have been in here countless times since, and have always found the staff to be lovely and quite efficient.
RBS got their fair share of stick during the recession, but with their student current accounts and easy to manage overdraft I would say they are the best of the big bad banks out there. I’ve seldom encountered financial problems since banking with them. And the friendly nature of the staff working here makes managing my money that little bit easier!

The RBS at the top of Byre’s Road offers pretty much all you could want from a bank. The staff are really friendly and helpful — and actually seem to want you to sign up for an account with them (which is more than I can say for a lot of banks, branches of RBS included).
It is always busy, but they do have a couple of chairs around for you to sit on while you’re waiting in the queue.
This is quite a bit branch, so they have some great little offices where you ca go to chat privately about your account. You don’t usually have to wait very long for an appointment either which is a plus.

Once you get past the admittedly irritating opening hours, this is actually one of the friendliest banks you could find. Having had my ISA in here for several years, I’ve always found the staff to be exceptionally efficient, friendly and professional; a miracle, considering a large chunk of the day’s custom consists of students looking to extend their overdrafts.

As a loyal RBS customer of, well, near on 21 years, I gotta say this branch definitely has paid its dues.
It’s always busy, the staff are friendly, and it has lots of writing desks, which are always handy (due to the ‘busy’ factor).
My only qualm? Why do they open at 9.15 and close at 4.45?! Very, very awkward opening times, I tell you.
