This was my first trip to any of the Two Fat Ladies restaurants and now I’m very keen to try the others! My mum, granny and I went for a wee lunch to celebrate my mums birthday. It was lovely going out just the three of us and Two Fat Ladies was a great choice(by my mum!). The restaurant is pretty small and intimate, but not so much that you’re super close to the table next to you! My mum and I decided to order from the lunch menu(2 courses for £16) and my granny went for the a la carte. I’m normally a starter-main kinda gal, but the puddings sounded great so opted for main-dessert instead. I chose the sea bream with celeriac purée and buttered leeks. It was SOYUMMY. The fish was cooked wonderfully, but I would’ve loved more of the purée and leeks(greedy?!). My mum opted for the mushroom risotto which was incredibly cheesy but really nice. My granny chose the lemon sole with orange sauce and almonds. Unfortunately, we were told they were out of lemon sole so she had the plaice instead. Now, my granny being a proper highland lass, knows her fish and wasn’t that impressed with it. She said it didn’t taste that fresh and she wouldn’t be surprised if it had been frozen — I tried it and it tasted grand to me, but clearly I do not have her ‘fresh fish knowledgeable palette.’! For pudding I went for the kiwi cheesecake and my mum got the lemon posset. The cheesecake was nice, but was advertised as having a Brazil nut base, not the shortbread base it came with. There were a few Brazil nuts scattered around but it did feel kinda thrown together. It was really tasty but not exactly what I expected! The lemon posset was lemony and a posset. A nice lemon posset though. That’s about all you can say about a lemon posset eh? Don’t think I’ve ever written the word posset as much as I have here. Posset. Something weird about that word. Anywho, I enjoyed my time at the Two Fat Ladies and would definitely go back. The service was really nice and attentive and it’s a cute, small space. I really want to try their dessert sharing platter next time! Obvs to share with someone. Not alone… Maybe.

Trout was perfectly done. The side of vegetables with with rosemary on top was delicious. We got the lemon cheesecake and some very rich chocolate dish. Perfect way to end the meal. Waiter was extremely friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

Following an invitation to an early business dinner from a friend(whom I hadn’t seen in a long time and was here on actual business), I felt pretty sophisticated. This definitely helped this feeling too, with it’s stylish and elegant décor and atmosphere. Having been to their sister restaurant at the Buttery, I was really quite looking forward to this(for the food, and seeing my friend again obviously). Its location is absolutely grand, right near the Blythswood Square Hotel and close to the city centre. We decided to go for the pre-theatre menu and it was beyond filling and incredibly reasonably priced! I had a salmon starter which was tasty and had a fish and risotto main. It was delicious. The fish was perfectly cooked, but although the risotto was slightly on the salty side, it was super tasty. My only, tiny, little negative was the dessert. It was a chocolate something, but it was just too dense and heavy. So for that, I have to deduct a star. Otherwise, the house Sauvignon Blanc was smashing and the atmosphere was great. It’s only a small little restaurant, so I definitely would advise booking in advance.

Fist time I actually had Haggis. It was really good and not too strong. Very fine food, nicely dressed. Excellent place, highly recommended.

I have to admit, I was very excited about crossing this restaurant off my wish list. I remember passing the City Centre window years ago and salivating over the menu, wishing I could afford to go. So when I was asked to choose a place to have my birthday meal this year, I eagerly suggested Two Fat Ladies. It is mainly a seafood restaurant, which makes it strange I was so keen to go considering I don’t really eat fish, luckily there are plenty of other options on the menu for people who are not fish lovers. I chose not to have a starter but my dining partner Sam went for the Scallops with Black Pudding. Even he wasn’t sure about scallops, he was so determined to like them he ordered them anyway. When they arrived, I had to admit they looked tempting, so I had a little taste. They were quite sweet from the caramelized exterior but there was also a hint of acidity from lemon. I actually found them quite tasty until I was hit with that slightly fishy aftertaste. I reckon with a few more tries I could get on board though and Sam was definitely won over. For my main, I chose the Duck Breast, one of my favourite meats, served with a pancetta and cherry jus — perfection! It arrived looking beautiful and the sauce had a fantastic sheen to it. I did expect it to be a little more pink(I wasn’t asked how I wanted it cooked) but when I tasted it, it was just right. The meat was tender and melt in the mouth, the skin lovely and crispy. The jus had loads of flavour and there were little pieces of cherry and pancetta underneath the duck which added little bursts of sweet or saltiness. Our main meal was accompanied by a bowl of roasted carrots, courgettes and potatoes. This was perfect for me but Sam is not a big fan of courgette which meant I had to leave him a few extra carrots and potatoes! For his main he had chosen the Lemon Sole with tarragon, almond and garlic butter. The fish was very well cooked but the butter was so very garlicky that you couldn’t really taste the fish through it. I had planned all evening to have a dessert as I am a big dessert lover, most of the time it’s my favourite part of the meal! On looking at the menu there were multiple desserts I wanted and I couldn’t decide, so I used the fact that it was my birthday to convince Sam to get the sharing platter with me. When it arrived I was in awe. It was bigger than I expected but looked absolutely beautiful. It included: Dark Chocolate Ganache with raspberry purée and white chocolate crumb, Vanilla Cheesecake with strawberries and shortbread, Bramble Crème Brulee and the classic Sticky Toffee Pudding. I dove straight in and went for the ganache which was, quite honestly, bloody brilliant. It was rich and thick and everything a ganache should be, with bitterness from the dark chocolate, sharpness from the raspberry and a bit of crunch from the white chocolate crumb — we ended up fighting a bit over the remains of this one! The cheesecake was quite bizarre. I couldn’t believe it actually was cheesecake, it was so light. I think of cheesecake as being quite stodgy and heavy, this was lighter than cream! The shortcake acted as the base, which I thought there was maybe a tad too much of in relation to the amount of cheesecake, but another stunning dessert. The sticky toffee pudding I have never been a big fan of and isn’t a dessert that I would choose but it was a lot tastier than I expected and the sponge was lovely and moist(don’t you hate that word?) Lastly was the crème brûlée. The top had the perfect crunch to it, the vanilla custard inside gorgeous and thick, dotted with big, juicy brambles that stopped it all from becoming too sickly sweet. It was, by far, one of the best desserts I have ever had the pleasure of eating. Yes, it was pure indulgence, but who cares? It’s not like this is an every day dessert, this is something very special. As you can see, we basically licked the plate clean… It was a lovely meal but on leaving I did feel like a fat lady myself! I would really love to go to the restaurant at The Buttery but the menu at the City Centre site just caught my eye. I think whichever one you choose, the quality of food will be the same, very high. Price wise, you are paying for the quality here. Between two people, including a bottle of wine, we spent around the £80-£100 mark. This is a lot, but it is high quality food accompanied by a lovely bottle of wine and it was for a special occasion, but it’s not somewhere you go on a regular basis, unless you’re super rich I guess, then what the hell! Take a look at the website here, and if you do decide to go, leave room for dessert, I promise it won’t disappoint!

We went here last week on our trip to Glasgow, because it was close to the hotel. It is a small place with a pleasant romantic atmosphere. The service was good and the food was well presented and prepared. I know we would go back again.

Two Fat Ladies is part of the group of 4 similarly named restaurants and this was my first visit to the city centre branch. I dined as a party of three for lunch booked through 5pm and the booking process was simple and the greeting staff indicated immediately they were aware of the booking. We had a hankering for fish and fortunately this is what the restaurant specialises in. The dining space is small but bright and elegantly dressed. Our server was extremely attentive, happy to discuss the menu items. We selected from the set lunch menu, although the a la carte menu was also provided, the set menu had a nice balance of options to tempt us. Our party had the Cullen skink, the breaded black pudding and apple, and the smoked salmon as starters. All the dishes were well received. The smoked salmon came with a lovely dill mayonnaise and fennel salad that cut through the oiliness of the fish. The sweetness of the black pudding was well matched by sharp apple and a blue cheese and mustard dressing and the Cullen Skink was full of flaky smokey haddock and well seasoned broth. For mains we had the sea bass with fennel and orange with a selection of veg and a haddock with sweetcorn and a bacon crumb. Again the dishes were well cooked although I felt the presentation of these was a little over simple. I have no complaint about flavour at all and my dining companions were similarly impressed. For dessert we had the dark chocolate and orange mousse, presented in small glasses with a crumb topping, it was light and delicious. The sticky toffee pudding was everything it should be and all dishes were demolished with some gusto. The meal was accompanied by the house white and house red, the white in particular being extremely good, dry with lovely grapefruit notes. We finished with coffees and some delicious Scottish tablet. The bill for three under £70 and I think excellent value. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable visit. The combination of great service, good food and excellent value means I wont hesitate to return.

While hosting a colleague from Portugal, he asked to be taken somewhere for dinner that was unique to Scotland. My mind immediately thought of here as somewhere that would fit the bill, and we were not disappointed. The scallop starter with the beloved Stornoway black pudding(can’t beat it) and I had stuffed portobello mushrooms. I was apprehensive on entering the restuarant that as a non-fish eater I was going to be nibbling bread for dinner! However the menu caters for plenty of other options so no problems there. Shetland Salmon for my companion and chicken for me, with a big bowl of veg and potatoes to share. Pure gluttony led us to the cheese board to share at the end. We were absolutely stuffed afterwards! There were a couple of potentially fatal cock-ups, but the staff were attentive and very quick to correct the errors. Professional and great service otherwise. My companion was thrilled with the all of the above and we were pleased to see the place buzzing even though it was a Tuesday night.

The Two Fat Ladies in Glasgow’s city centre is simply fantastic — easily the best restaurant I dined at in Scotland. The food is truly exceptional; try the scallops with pork belly — you won’t be disappointed. The fish platter was fantastic, too, as was the dessert platter(a selection of all their desserts, which frees you from the impossible task of choosing.). If you are a fan of single malts, they have a very good selection and you can get qualified advice from the friendly staff. They advertise opening times till 10:30, but if you call ahead you can actually arrive at around 10 and you can still enjoy a full dinner — we left at around midnight. Pricing is reasonable for the quality you get. It is a bit pricey(we paid £45 pp for starters, mains, dessert and drinks), but worth every penny. They have a good wine selection, and they also offer a very good Scottish beer matured in whisky casks. Bottom line: If you enjoy good food, do not miss out on this one!

I love all these places in Glasgow making authentic Scottish food from local ingredients. Two Fat Ladies keeps up the trend with its fantastic turn of the(20th) century interior and seafood-loving menu. It’s utterly charming and has a great little pre-theatre menu for some after work dining.

We did not have very high expectations at first but saw very many positive reviews and decided to give it a shot. We Loved it. The food is great. We ordered the sole fish, a trio of fish main and a sweet potato soup. For dessert we had a strawberry shortcake cheesecake and a trifle. We loved everything, the trifle was OK. The service was great.

I was a little worried when we were told the original Two Fat Ladies are no longer involved in the restaurant. Apparently, the change in ownership happened years ago. The smart new owner kept the name. Huge kudos to this sweet little restaurant. It is the perfect size, offers the perfect light to dine, the perfect weight cutlery, barware and china, pleasant staff and a fabulous menu of some of the best food we’ve had in Glasgow. I had the fish special and my husband enjoyed the chicken stuffed with haggis. Just one tip before heading over — call ahead to make sure they have a table for you. It’s small, intimate and you’d hate to be left out in the cold.

This is a superb fish restaurant with a fantastic menu choice. If your a fish fan then this is the place for you. Im a huge fan of seabass and went for this it came stuffed with roasted vegetable and chilli cous cous. It was to die for. For desert the brambe and strawberry shortbread tower was the highlight of the evening. This place is a hiden delight in the City Centre just off of Sauchiehall street. i would highly recommend a visit, the service and standard of food are top notch.

This is a lovely and pretty posh restaurant tucked away just off of Bath Street and one which I am amazed to be the first to review! The food is phenomenal! The dishes are definitely pricey, there’s no denying that but this has got to be some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. They do have some slightly strange combinations on the menu that’s got to be said. For instance, scallops and black pudding. However, these combinations actually work and very well indeed. Meanwhile, the food is perfectly cooked with just the correct amount of herbs and sauce so as to compliment the meat/fish/veg but not completely overpower it. From just one look at the restaurant’s exterior though, it becomes apparent that seafood is their speciality. Now, as a shellfish — but no other kind of seafood — fan, I can tell you it’s worth a try. I even enjoyed a taste of my friend’s sea bass which is very unusual for me. The décor is stylish yet homely with lots of quality wood; wavy, funky metal work; big glass windows and pristine heavy white table cloths. While, it is relatively small(hence not brilliant for large groups) the space is utilised well and staff seem very conscious of their surrounding i.e. no getting your chair bumped when they’re on their way to the kitchen with am armful of plates. Ok, maybe this isn’t that much of a regular occurrence anywhere — but I’ve been taken to some questionable ‘restaurants’ by the boy. Anyway, back to this restaurant in question. The staff are pleasant, polite and efficient. They also chat quietly behind the bar — don’t worry you can’t hear a blow by blow account of who shagged who on Friday night or anything like that. Instead, the quiet chat in the background gives the place a slightly more relaxed atmosphere than you’d expect from first glance. All in all, a lovely, restaurant that is well worth the prices. Though, should possibly only be kept for special occasions.

If you like seafood and fish then you will undoubtedly be impressed by Two Fat Ladies. This is quite a new restaurant in the city centre, with its sister restaurant being in the west end for many years. The menu is not as extensive or varied as some restaurants but it changes regularly and often uses seasonal produce. The wine list is also good and staff will happily recomend a wine to suit yor meal. Also has a very good dessert menu for those with a sweet tooth! Usually have special offers on for pre-theatre due to it’s proximity to the Kings Theatre. There is a lovely atmosphere inside and the staff are very polite and helpful. Not to be recommended if you don’t like seafood as there is usually only one non seafood alternative, and probably not one to take the children to.

If seafood’s your thing, you can’t really do better than Two Fat Ladies. This city centre branch has been open for a couple of years now and I have been for a few lunches in that time which have been flawless. The menu isn’t particularly extensive but there is always something to tickle your tastebuds. The service is always impeccable and it’s hard to find a better meal for the money anywhere else.

Two Fat Ladies is a fish focused restaurant and a Glasgow institution, the opening of the city center branch has made it even more popular, the food as with it’s sister restaurant is superb I’ve never had a dud meal in there the fish is always cooked to perfection and the garnishing balanced to complement rather than drown out the flavours of the fish. It’s a great option for a quick pre-theatre and for the quality of the food the best meal you can get in Glasgow under £20

Scottish cuisine at it’s best in an intimate atmoshphere. Just the place for a romantic night out. Traditional food using the best quality ingredients at a reasonable price. It’s not overly expensive. It’s refreshing to find a place like this in among all the fast food joints out there. Not to be missed!!!
