Victor Vezza is an old fashion men’s hairdressers: they can do a few fancy things with the clippers, but it is straight-ahead«something for the weekend» old school style. I have been getting my hair cut here on and off for about a year. Because I use salons the rest of the time, I’ve never really built a relationship with any one barber here, but I notice that most of the other customers seem to have a name that they request. It’s a workmanlike atmosphere, very masculine and chatty: topics to rehearse include last night’s television, the state of Glasgow schools but never the football. It hasn’t gone for the younger market– except the unhappy school kids getting their mop chopped– so don’t expect anything too fancy. I usually end up going home and covering my head in «product» afterwards, seeing how I can shape my fading hair into something that doesn’t look too much like a basic cut. But they are fast, cheap and friendly, and they have never messed my hair up with uneven sides, and the«too much off the front» I worry about is more to do with my receding hairline than their skills.
