Kris B. and I frequent the Victoria quite a bit; it’s handy for our home and for local shops so we often pop in for a quick pint or glass of wine when we’re both free. The Victoria is nothing overly fancy, but then it doesn’t pretend to be. Plenty of your usual beers, bottled and draught, and it has pretty much a full bar. The staff are pretty friendly, but they definitely do not stand for any kind of bad behaviour; act up and you’re out on your ear. Typical old man’s local: good place to read your paper with a pint, watch some football and nip next door to the bookies to stick a line on. No really, the staff will watch your pint til you get back: P

The Victoria Bar is one of my favourite local pubs to visit. It looks like a typical old man’s haunt, with horse racing and darts on the TV, bookie forms on the window sill and a group of old men shouting about which horse to bet on next. But the staff are friendly and welcoming, the prices are dirt cheap and they host the hardest pub quiz I’ve ever been to. So if you’re ever in Rutherglen is defiantly worth a visit.
