My first time at Vroni’s started out on a funny note as i couldn’t get the door open. Upon looking through the windows i could see their were customers in side and tried the good ol’ push and pull on both doors, neither was allowing me entrance. Stumped i wondered if it was a private party and i had my dates and times wrong. Luckily some customers open the door for me, silly ol’ me walked on in. I was really impressed with the interior décor, very unique and the wine bar was the focal point of the room. I must say it is very dark and this may have aided my inability to get the door open, not being able to see the inside. The mezzanine is really sweet with fairy lights draped along its balcony. It does feel less hectic on the mezzanine which is nice as we were in a larger group already. The wine was really lovely and the servers were really nice and super efficient. We had some sharing platters and they were of a really goods size and everything went really well with the wine. I really want to come back here with my partner as i think it would be a really nice environment for a glass or two and a little nibble.

I love wine but hadn’t visited Vroni’s til recently. I’d booked the mezzanine area about a week in advance — the manager Calum was really helpful and suggested ordering some platters of food and gave me a good idea of how many to get for the group. I believe the mezzanine is free to hire during the week. First up — this place is really, really dark. I actually don’t even know how it’s so dark, even in the middle of the day. It really does take a bit for your eyes to adjust to the place. The décor is a bit outdated but nothing offensive and the mezzanine space is great as it’s actually quite bright and cosy without being squashy(mind your head if you’re tall!). There’s a good wine list and they are reasonably priced. We had a few platters for our group — vegetarian and meat — and they both seemed to be very well received, particularly the red pepper hummus on the veggie platter. From what I remember, the platters are described as serving 2 people but I’d actually say it’s more like 4 as they’re really quite big. On the night we visited, it was really busy as it was Easter Thursday and so our reserved area was hotly sought-after by people looking for a seat. When I was leaving later in the night, there was lots of rowdy blokes downstairs so that was a little off-putting(but I was on my way out anyway). I expect that on a normal night this is a quite a pleasant bar to hang out in.

A delightful find. £5.5 Cava and a delicious smoked salmon snack. The vibe was relaxed, as you would expect. The afterwork, suit set clientele started pouring in and it still managed to stay relaxed. Cheers

Really Vroni’s? IDing me?! Yesterday I was meeting my friend Madelaine for lunch who I’ve not seen in 2 years, and afterwards came in here for some drinks. And they ID’d me! Maybe it’s because Madelaine looks young, or because we were the youngest there by a long shot, but pfft I don’t look underage. Vroni’s, despite that, is a great wee place to sit and enjoy some fabulous wines and have a chat. It’s really quite small inside, so on a busy night you’re unlikely to find a seat easily, but it’s sister bar Blue Dog is just round the corner(and does fab cocktails!) The amount of wines on offer in here is staggeringly high, and although some can reach to terrifyingly expensive heights, the more common wines are decently priced at around £4/5/6 a glass. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and a hell of a lot of posh grape juice = good enough for me!

‘Atmosphere’ is the buzz word for Vronis, a lovely wine bar in Glasgow, settled in amongst shops and traffic, a perfect haven if you’ve had enough of the hustle and bustle of town. The place itself is very quaint; very old and traditional feeling, and really cosy. It’s all about the low lighting, dark woods and candle light in here, which is great if you just want to go for a glass of wine with your partner or have a quiet chat with your mum. It is expensive though, with house wines starting at around £15, and reaching to the grand, bubbly heights of £218 for a bottle of Laurent-Perrier. Maybe one day… Worth a visit if just for the experience, and if you don’t know which wine to choose. The staff here know their plonk. Just ask for help when choosing and they always seem happy to help.

Not that I make a habit of frequenting Wine Bars, my friend and I decided to act posh one day, and went for a bit of lunch here. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that all the food was that of the light bite nature — the pâté and oatcakes went extremely well with my choice of wine(or so the waiter told me; to me, they were just incredibly tasty). Trying to choose which glass of wine I’d like was the hardest part — they have over 13 pouring wines, ranging from pinot grigios to prosecco… mmm… and that’s not including the hundred other bottles we could have had(not that I would spend anywhere near £218 on a bottle of anything). It’s a nice little place — it’s got a rustic feel about it, and is frequented by a generally older crowd(ok, I’d say maybe 75% of the customers had greying or white hair, which isn’t a bad thing, but I’m 20-something, and it’s not EXACTLY my kinda place). I can see why it’s popular — the food, the wine, and the ambience — and it has made me actually reconsider my initial statement — however, I may be a few years off becoming a regular, as yet.

Vroni’s claims to be Glasgow’s best wine bar on their website and in their windows. With over a hundred wines and at least 10 available by the glass, they could be right., The menu is full of light items and finger foods, making this a great starting point for a night out or pre-theatre drinks. The interior is lovely and it has an upper floor accessible through the back.

Love this wine bar! its gorgeous at night when it’s all candlelit! amazing choice of wine and great champangne cocktails! It’s a little on the expensive side so maybe nice for a drink before or after a meal on a special occasion! You can normally find good deals for lunch on ‘price your meal. dom’, chilli nachos are amazing!

Nice and relaxing, quite stylish, a bit pricey and the age groups a bit on the ‘mature’ side A Glass of Dry White please.
