I get a feeling I’ll be giving 5 stars to every business in Glasgow. God I’ve been in London too long. They are so friendly up here. I asked for the nutella monster shake and he asked if I’d like fresh strawberries added to it. It was gorgeous. Definitely be back here!

Do you like waffles? Do you like ice cream? DOYOULIKESTUFFINGYOURUNHOLYGOBFULLOFMAGICANDWONDER? If so this is the place for you. I’m actually depressed/relieved this place doesn’t exist in Edinburgh, because I reckon I’d find just a few… too… many reasons to pop by.(It does stay open conveniently late as well, for those late-night sweet-tooth cravings!) As it happens my partner in crime and I decided after a day of beer-touring in Glasgow to finish it off with a fluorish: and what better way to do that than at a place called«Waffle Monster»? It ended up being the highlight of my evening because, let’s face it, I’m a total fat kid. We split a marvelously decadent waffle sundae, that had us feeling stuffed to the rafters and disgustingly, wonderfully«oh my god why did we do this to ourselves» after. Sure, this place looks a bit like a chain, but it is cute on the inside in a standard sort of way. It’s also clean and presentable, if small, with very limited seating(not a problem for us at the late hour we went). The waffle-maestro behind the counter was friendly and conversational, and presented us with the most glorious of waffley goodness. It’s also worth mention that this place serves shakes and bubble tea! I’d be willing to try it, but ya know. Waffles.

I find it a breath of fresh air to see a new business starting up with a new idea that no one else is doing like burgers or cheap kebab. When I’ve walked past before the smell of waffle is enough to tempt you in, I have been twice, and on both occasions the food has been good. Only down side is that there is limited seating and food is served in polystyrene containers. I wasn’t sure if the loge was thought out or was it an after thought as the logo looks like something that came out of a Durex pack with a hat on, it might be my wild imagination but can’t help spotting these things.

Mmmmmm! I loooove Waffle Monster — finally a decent dessert place in Glasgow! Bearing in mind i’m not a huge dessert fan and it takes quite a lot for me to actually like desserts. They have so many different flavours of ice-cream that you just want to try them all at once! The waffles are absolutely delicious as well — not sweet at all which is ideal and is nice and chewy. The shop itself is so cute too, it sort of just invites you in… I really hope Waffle Monster stays around for a while, definitely the best i’ve been to yet!

After an afternoon of high brow film at the GFT(ok, it was Frozen sing along — judge away), we decided it was a good time to try out Waffle Monster and see if it lives up to all its 5 star reviews. Although not particularly disappointed, I don’t think it’s quite there. Yet. The shop is kinda tiny and claustrophobic, with a few stools and bar for you to eat in at. The guy serving was nice and helpful — he made the waffles whilst we waited(3 minute cook time). The waffles themselves were pretty tasty — crispy and sweet. The ice cream was nice but bordering on unremarkable — I had mint choc chip and toffee fudge. But the choc chips and bits of fudge were a bit, well absent. Cutting the waffles with plastic knife and fork was quite awkward too. Overall it was nice enough and I can see it having a lot of potential. Oh, we were there for maybe half an hour tops — Mr A was still smelling of waffles like 6 hours later.

A good waffle is something that in recent times has been pretty hard to get your hands on in the city. This makes me super sad because a freshly made waffle is a glorious thing. Worry no more tho people of Glasgow, we have a lovely new addition to Sauchiehall Street who will take care of your sweet doughy cravings. Located at the west end of Sauchiehall St, not far from pommes frites(Belgian fries & Belgian waffles… can we officially call this area little Belgium?) the shop is nicely decorated with a nice big counter and a small bar with a few high stools if you want to sit in and eat. It’s definitely going for the cute girly vibe with bright pink & purple décor and a big waffle monster decal on the wall. There is a dizzying array of choices to be made in this sweet treat gem — waffles, ice cream, bubble tea, coffees and the biggest selection of milkshakes I think I’ve ever seen. Once you’ve picked your item then it’s time to pick flavours and additional options. It’s mind-boggling but in the best possible way. In the end I opted for a freshly made waffle, I was advised at the point of ordering it would take 6 minutes to make — I was more than happy to wait. As you can image the shop smells amazing once the dough starts to cook. As I was waiting I scanned over the ice cream options to decide what flavours I would have with the waffle. There was your staple favourites vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, mint choc chip etc, but there are also a few crazy flavours link blueberry cheesecake, candy floss, bubblegum. and cherry pie & custard??? I decided to go for the ever popular Cookies & Cream and a Toffee Fudge. Mr G went for an Ice Cream sundae which comes with 3 flavours of ice cream, 2 sauces, sprinkles, cream and freshly cut fruit — yes they cut it up right in front of my eyes which I thought was impressive. My waffle was delicious it was every so slightly sticky on the outside and inside was gorgeous sweet dough and my ice cream flavours went perfectly with it. The ice cream was nice enough but wasn’t the best ice cream I’ve ever had, you couldn’t compare it to Equis or Nardinis, but I would happily go back and get a tub of it if I fancied some ice cream. Brilliant wee shop which I am sure to visit lots in the future.

I have a very sweet tooth. In fact I think all of my teeth are sweet because the minute I walked into Waffle Monster I started salivating. Be warned, if you aren’t a fan of sweet sugary things this place is not for you(which is good, leaves more for the rest of us!). Naturally my cohort(the equally sweet Kirsty B) and I spent several minutes pondering ice cream, sauce and waffle combinations before deciding. Two waffles were ordered, one with candyfloss ice cream for me, the other with toffee apple ice cream. Made fresh the waffles are heavenly! A far remove from the store bought equivalents, slightly crisp toasted outsides with a delicious soft warm inner, they are very very moreish! Ice cream wise, it was hard to choose as they have a good variety, but on this visit I think the toffee apple flavour won out, perfect for the warm sweetness of the waffle. OMNOMNOM!!! They also serve bubble teas, with a good variety of flavours and options so I can see me popping in if I’m passing for one of those. I really hope this place does well, we need more dessert focussed eateries in Glasgow I say!

Try Belgium chocolate sauce and ice cream waffle or ice cream and fresh fruit! Add a cookie milkshake, you won’t regret it
