We found this restaurant today by accident and had the most amazing Sunday lunch! The restaurant itself is elegant, but also cosy and quaint with lots of beams and open fires. The staff obligingly found us a table, although it was quite obvious that it would have been advisable to book. A two-course Sunday lunch was £15.95 and we happily chose our starters and opted for the roast beef whilst sitting in the bar enjoying a rather nice glass of wine. Both my friend’s melon and my celery soup were delicious… and then came the roast! Thick slices of beautifully tender beef, the best Yorkshire puddings that I’ve ever had in a restaurant, roast potatoes, a dish of perfectly cooked veg(broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, carrots, celery and parsnips) and a generous supply of gravy. We didn’t have a dessert, but those being brought to the tables around us looked very tempting! We look forward to going back and exploring the rest of their menu… the Smugglers Wheel is definitely going to be somewhere that we return to again and again, especially when wanting somewhere that little bit special. This really is as good as Sunday lunch gets!
