Went there today, it was great, lots of choice, lots of crafts, great prices, friendly staff and crafters. Excellent tea rooms, makes for a great afternoon out. A great place to go for gifts, birthday or Christmas. I found cushions, incense, oils, a toy stand, baby clothes, handmade cards, crystals and so much more. A must go for the area.

I bought a great unusual knitted jacket. Some stalls a bit ‘twee’ for my liking but the people are helpful. I had a lovely freshly made quiche and salad in the café and spent a happy couple of hours. Lots of fabrics and huge stock of wools but no smell of damp as someone has suggested. Plenty of parking and childrens playground.

I go to the Old Loom a lot to get fabrics and wool to make clothes. The staff are always really helpful and knowledgable. If you can’t find the material that you are looking for they always seem to have an idea for an alternative. Although i have found cheaper places to buy fabric, i like the fact that i always leave here with more ideas for making clothes than what i went in with. There are lots of craft stalls too, some are quite expensive, but its nice to have a look round and have a chat.

If your looking for gifts with a difference, then I recommend a visit to the craft hall at The Old Loom Mill. I found original and sometimes quaint handmade crafts including hand dyed and spun wools, felted bags and scarves, painted silk scarfs, high quality cushions and hats, a lovely selection of jewellery and lots more. I also had a very nice lunch in the tea rooms.

I visited today and thought it had a very quaint laid back relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The crafts are varied and mostly well made with a chance of buying something that is a one off and hand made with care, not mass produced, so I was willing to pay a bit more. Tea room is basic but serves great tea with a nice selection of cake! I will definitely call back again.

Visited Old Loom Mill at Hailsham this morning it is very third rate. An air of neglect hangs over the place, crafts are very homemade, tacky and expensive for what they are. Tea rooms are basic & uninspiring. Big selection of wools & fabric but I suspect you would need to get rid of the smell of dampness that invaded the place before you could use it. Came away feeling quite depressed.
