aw i remember when this shop first opened! the first day i walked in, they were not serving cupcakes yet but i came back the very next day, bought a whole box of them and promptly devoured them all! oops, wasn’t supposed to say that. i mean i savoured them for a week… though i’d be lying. the cupcakes are perfect. not too much frosting, sweet without that i-feel-like-a-clown-i’m-so-high-oh-too-high-i-feel-sick-lemmedownnow feeling. p. s. the owner is just as sweet as her cupcakes! a little boutiquey but it’s harrogate… i’ll be back!!!

I haven’t been to the café(but want to visit), so I am just rating the cupcakes. I have managed to catch them at the Farmers’ Market in York and every time I have stopped for a cupcake… or a box of 4. I highly recommend the Sticky Toffee Pudding Cupcake. While it isn’t swimming in toffee sauce, it is delicious and the toffee sponge base is moist and rich(actually it doesn’t need the toffee sauce!). I did just try the Carrot Cupcake and it was so moist… and the best part… it has walnuts in it and no raisins! Sorry, not a fan of raisins in carrot cake(or any cakes for that matter). I do have a Red Velvet Cupcake still in the box, waiting to be devoured, so I will have to update after… UPDATE: I had the Red Velvet Cupcake, it was delicious, but not like Red Velvet as I know it. The cupcake itself could’ve been more red, but the one thing it was really lacking was chocolate. Red Velvet is a tough one to get right, so kudos to them for trying, but it did need more cocoa and the frosting could’ve had a bit of cream cheese to it as that is the traditional frosting for Red Velvet. If you are going to treat yourself, get one of these cupcakes. You won’t be disappointed.
