Decent. Friendly service, long wait time for food though. Cuisine was tasty! Restaurant seems a little haggard, but still nice. This is your place if you are craving some Thai in Harrogate but don’t want to splurge for Sukhothai or Thai Orchid prices. Best adjective for this place is «decent».

after leaving the harrogate conference centre our party of 22 people were looking for somewhere to dine and after a small time deliberating on our venue we all chose the thai elephant restaurant and we were so happy with our choice, we were greeted by unbelievably polite staff, and after a nice welcome we enjoyed what we all agreed was the nicest authentic thai meal any of our party had ever experienced before!!! and as one of our party had worked in bangkok for 8 years he was possibly the one person who if at all could have made comments about anything we had eaten if it was not upto par but only what a fasntastic meal were the words that came from his lips, so 10⁄10 for the thai elephant and thankyou once again to all of the owners and staff who made our evening so special, ps we have all agreed to have our 2009 christman works party with you.

There were only two other people in the restaurant when my mate and I went in on a Sunday evening earlier this month. The staff were dressed in traditional Thai dress and looked really nice and were very attentive. However I shall now always refer to these long dresses as ‘Fartkeepers’. When the waitress came to take our order both my friend and I were overcome by this vile stench and each thought the other had done it. It was only on looking at the poor waitress that we could see who the real culprit was !! Poor girl — I felt sorry for her — but she stayed and took our order amongst this almost visible smog. We had traditional Thai hot soup to start which was reasonable but not hot enough. We then both went for curries, one green one red, chicken and prawn. They were sickly and disappointing. I have had far better and the ‘wind’ experience has put me off coming here again

While it doesn’t compare to some of the Thai food I’ve experienced living in America, the Thai Elephant was the first place I ever ate Thai food at. I have fond memories of sitting with my parents in this place many years ago, and out of pure nostalgia, I’d be quite happy to come here again.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming in traditional Thai dress. The menu is very wide ranging with a great deal of choice. I love Thai food anyway, but the food here is exceptional, it is fresh and with a remarkable variety of flavours and tastes. I would recommend it to anyone. For four of us(with Singha beers!) the meal came to just over £80 which I thought was great value.
