I have been here only once but I was very impressed. The welcome was clearly genuine and the menu very tempting. I succumbed! This is quite obviously a place to visit whenever in the area of the Ashdown Forest. So if you are watching birds,(photo)stalking deer or paying homage to the great Pooh, this is the place to take your lunch break. Note, however, that my visit was on a September Thursday lunchtime during school term and nearly all tables were booked so it’s worth planning and booking ahead. If you live in the area, you’re very fortunate as the dinner menu was very tempting. Suffice it to say, I enjoyed my meal and an excellent glass of wine and will make every effort to find an excuse to visit again

The Hatch Inn is not just a great local pub, but also an awesome restaurant, for which people come from far and wide to dine. The food served up from the kitchen is amazing and the menu changes regularly to account for the changing seasons and the available local produce. The amazing inn on a secluded green on the edge of the Ashdown Forest provides the perfect backdrop for a date, or just a good old catch up with friends. It’s old world charm of medieval beams and a well used hearth are enchanting, and only add to the pleasure of the experience. At the bar you find the customary local ales and bitters, as well as guest ale options from further afield, all adding to the charm of the pub. IMHO definitely worth the trip to go and hang out, and enjoy the drinks, the food and the atmosphere at this great country inn.
