Wonderful store with an astonishing selection of fresh and packaged food, pre-made meals, and grocery and dry-good staples. I have taken pictures of the sugar selection alone to send to friends back home in the US. Check-out staff are very pleasant. Only downside is that floor staff think nothing of blocking aisles with restocking carts, chatting while they work(slowly), and simply walking in front of you — especially if you back off slightly to avoid gridlock with other clients. This makes getting through the store difficult — and getting what you want off the(blocked) shelves harder, contributing greatly to the frustration factor in an already crowded store.

With Waitrose you know you will be buying great products at a bit of a cost. The store is quite large and always has everything I desire, the produce is fresh, the meat selection is quite good, the wines are a good variety, and the staff are some of the most upbeat and friendly around.

I’m only docking a star because it’s not Fortnum and Mason and it’s starting to look a little tired too. It’s a Waitrose, therefore it’s good. The produce is of consistently good quality and, although not the largest supermarket around, there is sufficient there to do a weekly shop — assuming your pockets are deep enough. Prices have remained consistent following the opening of Sainsbury a few doors up, though the evening opening hours always manage to confound me. All the staff are friendly, helpful and posess congnitive functions. There is a decent sized car-park and you can get your pay-and-display back if you spend over a tenner — not hard to do in Waitrose.
