The Nags Head is my favourite place in York for Sunday Dinner. They have a Carvery on which is very resonably priced. They offer a selection of 3 or 4 meats and the portion sizes are always generous. The yorkshire puddings are freshly made rather than frozen ones and the gravy is fantastic.
It is well worth a visit for a Sunday Lunch.
