I rented a house through Chiltern Hills when I was at Uni, and when me moved into the house it was dirty, full of things, there was food in the fridge, and it was generally unacceptable. We rang them(expecting them to be annoyed like us) but they didn’t care and didn’t help us. We had to move in anyway as we had moved out of our previous flats, and we eventually managed to get hold of the landlord who arranged the house to be cleaned. When we first looked round the house there were quite a few things that needed sorting out such as a wildly overgrown garden and no door on the shower room(!) They assured us everything would be fixed when we moved in. Not only was none of it fixed but it took about 20 phone calls and several weeks before they did sort the issues out. Also, we paid a large deposit before we moved in which they then(six months down the line) claimed they had never recieved and tried to make us all pay a further £700 each to them! Luckily we had proof of payment which we were able to show them(not that we should have had to!) I also had many friends who were renting houses through Chiltern Hills and they all had similar problems. One friend used to receive constant phonecalls demanding to know why he hadn’t paid rent and then when he went to their office to show them all his payment reciepts they claimed they hadn’t accused him of not paying and didn’t need to see the reciepts. Very strange. Another thing they did was didn’t collect the keys from the previous tenants so they only had one set to give us between five people! They really were a joke in my opinion and I like to try and give balanced reviews but I can’t think of one single good thing to say about them unfortunately.
