The Falcon became my choice of pubs one Saturday to watch the Six Nations Rugby on the telly. From the outside, it looked like a small pub with a nice dining area. Upon entering, I was overwhelmed at how big the place was, but it was chopped up in medium sized rooms to try and make it cozier. When I looked at the menu, I realized it was a weatherspoon pub, another corporate chain, that does a good job of disguising itself as a local. Since my goal was to watch the Rugby game, I walked around the place trying to get the best seat to see one of several monitors installed throughout the place. I found my table and went to the bar to order my food and a cider on tap. I always order fish and chips and a pint of cider when I watch rugby, it’s become a habit. Plus, the last time I was adventurous and ordered a curry at a pub, i regretted it! The food at Weatherspoon pub is not all bad but it’s not all that good either. The cod fillet was well-battered and cooked well none of that mushy doughy un cooked batter that I hate. The chips on the other hand were cold and only got a dozen or so but i guess I did order fish and chips, not fish and a HEAP of chips. My recommendation is to come to the Falcon for a nice dinner and a bit of telly. Bring friends to make it more interesting.

Came here with friends in early January. I was visiting from the US with my cousin and we were with some Brits who promised to show us a local/authentic experience while we were traveling. The Falcon was awesome and certainly met my expectations for what I’d imagined as a quintessential old English pub. Kate was running the place the night I was there and cooked up a great dinner(I had chili — and it was delicious). Then, as we settled, the pub quiz began. There were about 10 teams competing. As an American, I was pretty awful at the British trivia and even worse at the general knowledge trivia. :) The quiz is on Monday’s, I believe and was a ton of fun. Highly recommend stopping in here if you happen to be in the area — a great place!

The Falcon is a lovely little pub in Wooburn Green, just outside High Wycombe. Service in the restaurant is quick and friendly, and the cheesy chips are great! Just 45 mins after arriving we’d ordered, eaten and paid, so a good place for a quick lunch. One for the locals, and well worth a look. Only downside is the carpark, which is small, though there’s enough space around.
