Hitchin Library

Local libraries are a great resource and one that we don’t make enough use of as a population I feel — Hitchin library is excellent.
They have a wide range of books, fiction and non-​fiction, magazines and periodicals and a great children’s section part of which is shaped like a train. You can also borrow VCRs and DVD for a small fee. There’s always an interesting display of books when you enter themed around some topical subject of that week and also a ‘recommended’ section featuring the staff’s favourite books.
Upstairs there’s a full IT suite where you can surf the internet etc. An excellent library staffed by friendly, helpful people. You can also access all the libraries services online which makes checking the catalogue, reserving books and renewing those you’ve borrowed very easy.

Very wide variety of books available. Videos, DVDs, tapes and computers are also available for loan. Staff are very friendly, and the library is very child friendly. Can renew books in store or on the internet.

Hitchin Library offers a fantastic service to the public. It’s free to join & free to borrow books. They have a good reference library, use of their computers is free, they rent out videos & DVD’s, you can renew your books by telephone if you want to, and they put on free song & story time sessions for young children.
