We came here for brunch as the place we wanted was full. The food was pretty generic and overpriced. The post mix on the diet coke wasn’t working too well so that tasted odd and the fryer oil needs changing as the fries weren’t as fresh tasting as it could’ve been. What has led me to the low score was the service. One guy seemed to take a dislike to us, moved us to a smaller table than the one that the much more enthusiastic host had offered us. He then avoided any attempt to catch him… For a restaurant with a good number of staff it was just meh. Then as we were waiting interminably for the bill I noticed grumpy waiter giving a complimentary bowl of olives to an older couple. Not on. I can only assume we were his glass of poorly flavoured diet beverage.

We came to the Barcode for family dinner. The restaurant claims to be America Italian and is really a bit like Italian restaurants in the US. They serve burgers, pizza and pasta. The variety of burgers is huge and there are various options for vegetarians. Everything was above average, the burgers and onion rings even excellent. The service was very friendly and willing to take special orders without hesitation. If you do not expect a real Italian restaurant, I can fully recommend it.

This is a new restaurant that describes itself as being New York Italian. It’s opened up in an area that is dominated with fairly average Italian restaurants and really had an opportunity to stand out from the crowd. Unfortunately it hasn’t really done so. The restaurant is spacious and well decorated, and the staff were welcoming on arrival. The menu consists of main meals, pasta, pizza, breakfasts and light bites. Neither my boyfriend or I wanted a massive meal so plumped for something from the light bites section. He went for the steak and red onion panini and I went for the breaded chicken, mozzarella and rocket panini, both were served with chips. The food was presented well and the portions large. Unfortunately, it was let down on taste. My chicken was unbreaded and the entire filling was pretty tasteless. The steak was nice but over powered by the red onion. The chips tasted like the frier oil needed replacing. My tea was fine(can’t really go wrong with a teabag!), but they brought hot milk, and my boyfriend’s Americano was minuscule. Once the food was delivered, nobody came to check if everything was ok, and when our plates were cleared and I mentioned the lack of breaded chicken, my comment was barely even acknowledged. With a large choice of similar restaurants in the area, we probably won’t be rushing back.
