Fabulous Sunday lunch with 2 veggie options(nut roast or homemade veggie sausages). The roast potatoes were so fluffy & perfectly roasted & crispy. A great selection of vegetables on the plate & very importantly plenty of gravy! If you’re a large group then it’s worth booking as only one big table and it does, understandably, get very busy. So get there early. Next time I’m in Hove I’ll be going back for sure.

I dropped into the Cooper’s Cask last night with 2 friends who were visiting. Inspired choice! The atmosphere was absolutely buzzing 2 lovely girls behind the bar, who were huge fun, laughing & turning up the music, even dancing with a drunk Spanish guy at the bar, in between pulling pints, it felt more like a friendly house party than a pub. We all loved it, and had a brilliant time. Very nice clientelle too, just groups of 20 – 30 somethings sitting round tables laughing & drinking. None of that aggressive undercurrent that you find in so many pubs, just a cool, relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Will definitely be visiting again!

I love the Coopers Cask. It’s a small pub but it has a big heart. I love the array of real ales they have to sup. And also the cider and lager selection on offer too. It’s very close to the centre of the action, just off Western Road, but it has a village feel that I enjoy. It does get busy though, at the weekends, especially when people come by to try the excellent Sunday roasts. All that said, I think a quiet pint on a quiet night is when the Coopers comes into its own.

I stopped in here one rainy night in Hove and had a couple beers. The bar staff are very nice and efficient and the place felt cozy and warm. Thing that wasn’t so rad was just how very small this place is, which would be fine if they didn’t have a DJ blasting. I couldn’t hear anything at all which just forced me to zone out and drink more beer. It wasn’t that the music was bad, it was actually quite good, it was just waaay too loud for such a small space. They seemed to stop serving food at 8 which was a bummer too. But, they were really awesome and made cheesey chips for my friends even though it wasn’t on th emenu. Looked really good! 3.5?

With its surprisingly good kitchen Coopers Cask is a great place to get both food and drink. Located just off Western Road it’s hidden enough for it to avoid over-full sardine like occasions however it’s well known enough for the atmosphere to consistently warm and welcoming. Its relaxed, traditional interior makes it perfect for the informal drink or lunch date but perhaps not for anything resembling something special. It’s simply a chilled, good value pub.
