It has what it says… Beer, crisps, etc. Open late, no complaints. Pretty friendly staff. :)

Three 2 Four is one of the biggest newsagents and late night grocery stores on Western Road. Surrounded by bars, pubs and take aways, its constantly bustling with students and locals popping in on the way home. If you’re after a newspaper and a pint of milk, Three 2 Four scores on both counts. If you’re looking for something hale and hearty however, there are much better late night stores in the area — like Buy 2 Win. A lot of the the brand products like Heinz tomato soup, Ambrosia custard and Mr Kipling cakes seem significantly over-priced whilst the biscuits, bread and tinned food tends to look more cheap and cheerful than appetising. The alcohol and freezer section also veers more towards economy purchasing with flurescent alcopops, giant bottles of cider, four packs of strong beer and frozen ready meals.

I’ve ended up going here quite frequently due to the perpetual nature of its being open. You can get almost every convenience item you could want here, but sometimes some essentials, such as toilet roll, are out of stock, which can be problematic if such items are immediately necessary. Cigarettes are also often sold out by about 1 or 2 in the morning, but most other items remain in stock, including a wide range of magazines, newspapers, frozen food items — e.g. £1 pizzas, Birdseye Roast Beef Dinner -, snacks, and a good selection of drinks items. The amount and quality of cheese available here is very limited and poor.

Did you see that programme about the three princes who came from their homelands in India, Sri Lanka and South Africa in order to find true love in Brighton? Well, if you didn’t, you should find it online. It was called Undercover Princes and showed not only cultural differences, but how pampered the princes were. They lived somewhere off Western Road, though I am not 100% sure which street it was. Why am I talking about this BBC reality TV show? Well, it is because when they went to do their weekly shop they went to Three 2 Four. They spent over an hour there. If you’ve ever been to this store you’ll realise this is almost completely unthinkable were it not for them actually doing it! Three 2 Four is a jolly good 24⁄7 off-licence. The staff have seen me in various states of sobriety and are always polite. I used to live pretty much next door, so I was there a lot and whenever I went the morning after the night before they’d give me that knowing nod as if to say: «Got some sleep? Sobered up a little?!» The store is well stocked, has it’s own cash machine(that does charge a usage fee) and is a great pit stop for when the late-night munchies strike. The prices are a little higher than supermarkets etc, but that’s the price you pay for convenience. And if it’s fit for a prince(or three!) it’s fit for me!
