Booked for a group of 8 for a birthday dinner and sad to say, we didn’t even get to the dinner part. The inside of the restaurant is nice enough — lots of natural wood finishes and colours but there is no view. There is an outside balcony for smokers and from there you can see the harbour but inside the windows are very small and high up on the wall so you can’t see out of them when you’re sat at your table. We arrived at the restaurant and the waitress came up to us at the door. asked if we had booked. we said yes and gave the name. She led us halfway thru the dining area and then pointed at a table and said«There» and then wandered off. We were still stood around the table deciding who was going to sit where when the waitress returned and asked if we wanted to order drinks, I asked if she could bring a drinks menu perhaps, she told us No, they only had house wine, white or red. My Father-In-Law asked what kind of wines they were and she said she’d bring them over. She returned with the bottles and as stated they said on the label«White Wine» and«Red Wine»(She was telling the truth at least) Dad asked if we could taste them first so she stormed off to get some glasses. She returned with the tastings and we asked for water for the table. While we tasted the wine, she brought over 8 glasses, smeared with fingerprints and soap scum, and plonked them down in front of us. We ordered a bottle of each wine and she went to get them. when she returned, she then asked if we wanted her to change the glasses, we said well, yes but only the dirty ones. Again she stormed off to do the simple task and father-in-law followed her and asked her if she wanted us to leave? She said no. He explained that we were out for a nice night and everything she had done so far seemed like a big hassle. She hadn’t been nice to us and the place was empty, we were the only customers eating(There was some at the bar) She said we were ok and that she’d get the water. Sister-In-Law then went to the bathroom and on her return walked past the waitress bitching about us to the other customers at the bar so we all got up and started to leave. Another waitress came over to us and asked if we were ok, she was perhaps the shift manager for the night, we said no we’re not and that we were leaving. We explained what had happened and she just said oh, ok. She wasn’t concerned, she wasn’t apologetic she wasn’t even bothered that one of her staff members was so appalling that she had caused their one and only table to leave. We headed off to The Millhouse — a place that knows what good service is and how to treat their customers! It’s astounding to me that in this day and age when we all have access to sites such as Unilocal, and we all have an opinion and a place to voice it for others to read, that people seem to think they can get away with terrible service. Definitely stay away from this place. The menu wasn’t appealing, the view is non existent and the service is beyond terrible

Évaluation du lieu : 5 Hull, United Kingdom
13 Bistro — great food, good prices and fantastic atmosphere Located at Hull Marina, 13 Bistro is decorated with the same beautiful wood and neutral palette that you’ll find in most upmarket restaurants. Soft lighting and a nod to a maritime theme lend a refined yet relaxed air to the place. The restaurant is cosy and well lit and seems to have a buzz about it. The staff are friendly and attentive. The wine list is full and the drinks on offer at the bar are abundant. As a smoker, I personally like that there are 2 balconies to smoke from with fantastic views of the marina. I had been to 13 Bistro before with great success, so for my birthday I booked a table for 12 on a Saturday night. For starters, some the group had the following dishes: Mussles Moulinaire Garlic Ciabatta Tomato Soup Olives Halloumi Salad The garlic olives were perfect for me as I cannot eat big portions. I also tried some of the muscles and my goodness, they were delicious! For main courses, some of the dishes ordered were: Surf and Turf Hunters Chicken Stroganoff Tagliatelli chicken Fillet steak I personally had the fillet steak. When it arrived, I could immediately smell the real charcoal grill it was cooked it wonderful barbecue aromas filled the air and I felt I really was in the shrine that worshipped the bovine. I was most impressed with the way the juices were magically sealed within the meat. I had noticed there was no messy drool on the plate, and with each bite, the meat was just spewing wetness which coated my entire mouth. The steak was amazing, cooked to perfection and really good quality meat it literally melted in my mouth. It came with homemade cole slaw, chips, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and even more hand-cooked twice fried chips! This is definitely the best steak I’ve ever had in Hull or the UK for that matter, and I’ve eaten at Hawkmoor and Gaucho which are both highly-rated. If you would like me to criticise some thing, it would be that the portions were quite large for me, but that is a positive for most people. There was an acoustic music set played by a lovely young gentleman named Ryan ‘bigman’ Mathie, who was incredibly good. His voice was like melting chocolate for the ears; delicately raspy and beautiful with sassiness and sensitivity. If I closed my eyes it was like hearing Ray LaMontagne or Jeff Buckley soulful, appealing and just downright sexy. If Ray LaMontagne and Jeff Buckley had a bastard love child, Ryan ‘bigman’ Mathiewould be it. This is a young man to watch out for, he has a sublime vocal talent. I hope he releases an album, as it is one I would actually purchase. All in all, this was good quality food, at a reasonable price with good service in fabulous surroundings. We will definitely go back again and I suggest you do, too.
