Good honest food(with a New Zealand twist) in a cosy atmosphere. Been a few times and always recommend to friends. The service is excellent.

Partner and I went here really from the reviews I found on Qype. It was a nice place, the food was great and we paid £50 for a three course meal with a bottle of wine. The atmosphere was great, staff friendly and all in all, a nice place to go for a meal. The only negative is that there is a limited menu, but what they do have they do well. Looking forward to our next visit…

myself and 9 friends went to Wharenui for our christmas get-together and had a great night. We were told that there would be a 3 course set menu for £19.95 but when we arrived I was pleasantly surprised to find there was a large choice of dishes including the special board that we could choose from. I would say that there were foods from all over the world and I wouldn’t have known it was New Zealand themed except for the name of the place however, All the meals were delish! There was only 3 members of staff but we were well looked after and I can’t wait to go again!

We went in Feb of ’09 and we had the best food ever. My fiancé had a banana stuffed chicken breast with a cocount curry served on a bed of grilled pineapple with some fragrant thai rice. It was delicious! he still dreams about it and I’m trying to find the recipe. I had a poached salmon with a fresh garden salad. The sauce over the salmon was really good. The atmosphere was great though the roses on the table looked like leftovers from Valentines. The wait staff weren’t overly friendly or attentive and left us waiting a bit for the bill. We definitely weren’t rushed out, though we were the only ones eating there and maybe they wanted to keep us there for as long as possible. Overall the experience was a favorable one and we’d defintely come back if only for the Banana Stuffed Chicken with the Coconut Curry Sauce!

Wharenui is found at the bottom of Haworth Main Street so it is in a really good location to go have a few drinks in one of the pubs up the street either before or after your meal. I first went here back in 2005 and thought it was fabulous. They specialise in New Zealand dishes. There was a really nice atmosphere and the lighting was lovely. The staff were also very friendly. However, me and my husband went back here in February of this year and it had completely changed. We may have picked a bad night or gone on a night when it was the chef’s night off but we felt the microwave was used quite a bit for the food that was served to us. We had three courses and had left the restaurant within an hour. It was a really disappointing evening. The food was poor quality and the staff seemed to be rushing people in and out despite the fact that the restaurant wasn’t overly busy. If you are visiting the Haworth area it may be worth a try but our second visit has put us off going here again(as there are other restaurants with excellent reputations on the Main Street of Haworth).
