The creamy rope mussels here are really delicious! Lobster spaghetti is quite good as well. But if I can only recommend one thing, definitely the mussel. It is not as tangy like the ones I had before, the taste of wine and cream cannot be combined in a better way :)

Over priced, low end, and unable to produce a quality meal. This place is embarrassingly dismal. All of the fake shiny bits are present to make the stupid customers think they’re experiencing a decent meal with some bits of flash in the interior. Sadly, the people have NOIDEA how to put out quality food. I am genuinely embarrassed for you and those who think this is a posh establishment.

i LOVE this restaurant, it is a chain, i have been to the st albans branch too which was bigger and more open but this one was good too — nice vibe, very busy and bustly, sitting close to the kitchen was nice on such a cold winter’s night! the food is great, lots of choice, great specials. love it.

The food here excellent and it was surprising to see how quality can make a difference to something as common and easy to cook as mussels. However, the was a small level of unprofessionalism as the staff were complaining quite loudly about being understaffed. As a customer I did not want to hear them moaning about. They also got one of the orders wrong but sorted it very quickly. The man serving us was extremely polite and attentive so any small quibbles I had were made up by the food and his good customer service. I believe my experience with the other grumbling staff was a one off.

Had the smoked haddock risotto with the most rubberry poached egg you’ve ever seen — wife had haddock and chips which tasted ok, but batter was not crispy. very overpriced, very ordinary!

Milsom Loch Fyne Hotel, Kenilworth The hotel is an a building several hundred years old near the High Street in Kenilworth but is fully modernised. The stairs to the rooms are very narrow and steep and might not suit all but is to be expected in an older building. Reception was friendly and efficient. The room was small but cosy and comfortable. The en-suite was basic, the sink was cracked but everything worked and there was a good range of toiletries provided. We ate our evening meal in the Loch Fyne restaurant on the ground floor. The service was friendly and attentive, although I had some trouble hearing the waiter due to music playing through a nearby speaker. We ordered Whitebait and Bradan Rost Smoked Salmon for starters. The Whitebait was unusual as it was not heavily coated and crispy. The Smoked Salmon was served with salad and a horseradish dressing and was delicious. The wine was excellent(recommended by the waiter). Our main courses were Moules Marinieres and Goan Fish Curry with Monkfish & Prawns. Both very enjoyable. For desert we had Apple Tart Tatin and Chocolate Orange Tarte. The Apple Tart was scrummy, the Chocolate Tarte was fantastic. The following morning we had breakfast, again in the Loch Fyne restaurant. We were greeted in a friendly manner and breakfast was explained. We had scrambled eggs with smoked salmon which was a great start to the day. Unfortunately there was a lack of attention to detail in the buffet area, cups and glasses had to be asked for and plates were dirty.

This used to be the Clarendon Arms apparently, it’s in the Old Quarter of Kenilworth and from the outside still looks like a pub, and indeed as you come in, you walk into a traditional bar. However, behind the bar is a really high quality Fish Restaurant, open plan kitchens and a ‘fishmongers counter’. This is not a place to go if you don’t like fish(only 1 or 2 non fishy items on the menu), but having said that the food is really great. Also it’s one of the few places I’ve been recently where I could honestly say the waiting staff were enthusiastic, knowledgeable and attentive. An extensive wine list, no sense of snobbery and pretty good prices(under £80 for 3 courses + wine) make this a great night out. My only other criticism is the menu could have a few more non fish dishes.
