The Roebuck, situated in the sleepy village of Mobberley is a lovely little place with a buzzing atmosphere! Friday night sees the place packed by locals enjoying the live music whilst drinking, eating(and some even dancing) away! With cool sofa seating and high top tables around the bar, and full dining and table service upstairs, this is a pub for all occasions. The pub has 4 cask ales on offer, including 2 from Tatton brewery just up the road and the cheapest(and rather good) bottle of vino was priced at £13. I visited on a Friday and a Sunday, so I had the chance to try a roast dinner, which I must say was the second best roast I’ve ever had(aside from my mothers). This included lots and lots of gravy, tender slices of pink roast beef, fluffy roasties, and a giant Yorkshire pudding– Aunt Bessie eat your heart out! Friday’s menu offered all the pub classics, big portions and rich flavours– not for the feint hearted. I’d recommend the black pudding croquettes at £5.50 followed by the Lamb ‘Harry’ served with a beautiful red wine sauce, caramelised root veg and mash priced at £14.50. The service is also second to none– waitresses very attentive and bubbly! However, if you’re in the mood for a quiet relaxed meal, I wouldn’t recommend eating on a Friday evening!

Would be 5 stars if it weren’t for one thing: it’s always so sodding busy! So, a word of warning: book ahead. Once you’ve done that, though, you won’t be disappointed with the food, service and range of beers/wines on offer. The Sunday roast is every bit as good as you would expect of a more-than-decent, out-of-town country pub. Another minor niggle is that the car park is a tad on the small size.
