The food’s OK friends at work often order from here. Yesterday, the meat was uncooked & felt like chewing on rubber. Called to complaint & the chap on the other end replies your friend asked for uncooked meat. We had no reply for this :(

The first time a friend suggested we get food from Seven Spices, I was a little concerned on account of the prices, which are of the sort that usually encourage one to stay away from meat, if not the whole place. That is, of course, unless you are fond of seeing your meal again within a few hours. I decided to trust said friend rather than listening to common sense. That was three years ago, and to this day Seven Spices is my takeaway of choice. I will confess now that I have a comically low spice tolerance, so the dishes I can stomach from an Indian restaurant are limited. This does mean however that I am a connisseur of korma, and this place does a particularly nice variety. I have however eathen from here with various companions, all of which have enjoyed their dishes. There are a few nice touches, such as free poppadoms and vegetable side dishes. There are also several options for vegetarians. I would recommend anything involving paneer as something worth going for. I think there is a restaurant, although I have never passed it when it is open. Sometimes though, it is nice to have your food come to you, and with good delivery times, why not put your pyjamas(or onesie!) on, get comfy and wait for it to do just that.

I’ve only gotten delivered take-away from here, so I wasn’t able to use the 25% discount :( either way, the prices are still reasonable! the food… pretty good… what really wins me over is all the paneer choices. Including paneer with spinach!!! if it weren’t for the paneer, the food would just be ok… nothing special to brag about… just ok. I HEARTPANEER!!! and I thank 7 Spices for their love for paneer as well!

Automatically thrust into students lives, with a 25% discount card being slipped into welcome packs on day 1, 7 Spices is a BYOB, incredibly well priced curry house on the edge of Woodhouse. Despite the friendly staff, and vast restaurant space though, I do not think it compares adequately with it’s surrounding similar concept curry houses. The curry is edible, but I get the feeling that, unless you spend extra on the specialities, the curries are of a fairly poor standard. 7 Spices is perfect for accomidating large parties, but if it is a good quality curry you’re after, I’d look elsewhere.

Fitting the same business model as its neighbour Nazam’s, 7 Spices offers cheap and tasty traditional India fare in a no-frills setting. The bring your own booze policy helps make an already cheap night out even cheaper, and once you factor in the 25% discount card given out to all and sundry you begin to wonder if they’re having a laugh. The price is in no way reflected by the quality of the food, which is fresh, delicious and generously proportioned, and the staff are politer than those I’ve encountered in restaurants where the final bill had a whole other nought on the end. A great place for a meal out with mates or with a date — if you can keep them away from the bill they’ll think your generosity knows no bounds.
